Is the battery under warranty?
Hi!
My Porsche Cayenne battery died twice, each time I have to recharge it and everything is ok but how do you know that it's time to change the battery?
My local Porsche dealer in Montreal charge 470$ (part and labor + taxes) for changing the battery but is it not under the Porsche warranty? is there any better alternative like another battery similar or better than the OEM?
Thanks
Ian

from what i've read on here, apparently ANYTHING is better than the OEM one. My father's got a 996tt-s and he gets his oem factory battery replaced annually under warranty (which is going to be expiring shortly).
for all my personal vehicles, if they ever have battery issues or wont start, i've always upgraded to an Optima Yellow Top battery from Costco. I've heard people say that Yellow Tops are only for car audio, and Red Tops provide better cranking. However, I've also heard that Red Tops dont last as long as Yellow Tops. I've personally never used a Red Top, but i've never had an issue with my Yellow Top in any of my vehicles.
Try searching the forums here to see if someone's got a part number for a yellow top that'll work.

Are you out of your mind? Any battery will do, regardless of brand name. Plus you can do it yourself. It's probably one of the simplest things you can do on your Cayenne. I've changed out the battery twice on my C2 just by following the directions in the manual and purchasing a battery from a battery store specialist in the GTA for less then $80 bucks
Porsche's are notorious for draining out batteries.
Good Luck Ian - just read your manual. You'll feel more empowered that you've worked on your car. I know i did.
As for knowing your battery life, there's a voltmeter on the far left-hand side on my instrument cluster that reads outs my volts. I'm fairly certain the Cayenne will have something similar. If it falls below 10 then you've got a "low battery"
If you've had to replace the battery twice in less then a year, then there may be a problem w/ your alternator - and not the battery.
