Awesome! Man I wish we had Air Suspension..but I think we maxed our budget...

We both shoot weddings and we use 1D2, 40D, 30D. We had 20D, 10D, and Xti before, too...LOL... Hey, as long as we get the job done, right?

I never owned a 16-35 nor 24-105... but our favorite lenses are: 85 1.2II, 24 1.4, 35 1.4, 85 1.8, 70-200 2.8, 135 1.2...and oh, the BEST is 10-22...that's MY FAVORITE.

5D? LUCKY YOU! You have the best in everything!

Griza,
I did a search on your post and saw the 22" sport Technos here:

I see you got them from Discount tires... Did you buy separate Porsche emblems from the dealer to put them on the rims? what about the door sills (sp?)? They look Great!
Thanks for sharing.

John
I am using the center caps from the stock wheels that came with my CTTS. The door sills came stock, didn't touch them. Thanks for the compliments and Best of luck with whatever you decide!

Nice collection - the lens makes up for more than a pro-level camera can. Well a good eye actually makes up for everything I am keeping my eye on the 1Ds Mark II 16Mp. Waiting for them to drop when they release the new one next year I hope. The Mark III is just crazy for sports photographers.

I have the 10-22 as well for my 20D! It is a great lens. I would put it on par with some of the "L" series out there.

The Air Suspension was a must and I got the car at such a steal that I couldn't walk away. Now I have to move the X5 to Autotrader or somewhere since it wasn't aware that I would replace it anytime this year.

Good luck on your wheels and show us what you are thinking.

Griza, thanks once again!

Alpine, thanks for your input! So lucky to have both X5 and Cayenne. To be honest..my feeling tells me that running boards will come before the rims.....

Questions are: How's the quality? Would I regret if I go with these? Where's a great place to shop for (OEM-replica or non-OEM-look) rims for good prices?

Thanks in advance for your input...

Hey, I am selling my set of 22" CEC wheels(c856) with Yokohama SUV tires. You're more than welcome to call me @ (310)729-5038 for any questions about the wheels. It is chrome lip with black spokes, minor curb rashes on 3 wheels.
Btw... LA county area only please..
I am letting go cheap. Here're some pictures of my wheels:

I'm at the other end of the spectrum. I see wheels as a wear item. It's inevitable wheels get scratched or damaged during everyday use. There is no reason why a set of wheels should cost $5000. You can buy a car for that much money. Most of that money goes into the profit column of the automaker or dealer. They can make more money on a set of wheels than on selling a whole car.

If you look at the Sport Technos vs. "Turbo" wheels, they are comparable in materials. There's no reason it should cost much more to manufacture one type vs. the other. When you buy the Technos, you are paying for the design. With the replicas, the design is copied, but the end result is virtually the same, as long as you stay with a good European supplier instead of going for the cheapest stuff you can find.

dont go for replica rims.......nothing can make u sure it wont break on the highway and u may lose control on the car......which will lead to a freaking bad accedint.......how about u call the factory and ask them if they can custom make a 22 for u???

i dont think its hard since there is alot of replicas......

dicoomafia - while most of us understand the associated "cheaper" replica price it doesn't mean that the wheel will just break. The incidents that have happened to some wheels and the most obvious one is the Sevas 1 piece cast wheel that stressed cracked. It was a bad casting and I hope that they fixed it but "ALL" wheel companies have had problems.

Companies don't make bad rims to get sued. They hope the people who produce their rims keep certifications such as ISO, TUV, DOT,etc. Just because they have the certifications doesn't mean they test to meet those at all times.

For example.

AT Italia Presa - is a replica of the Gemballa Sport Wheel. But in truth - the Gemballa wheel is the Italia Presa wheel only more expensive. Gemballa also uses the Inox wheel as well and ask AT Italia not to sell them to TireRack in Matt Black since it is their signature line.(correct me if I am wrong).

SpeedArt - Cross Spoke wheel is a Works Brombacher wheel. SpeedArt is the name brand more expensive than the Works name brand but they are the same wheel.

Most of the cost is in the design so when someone makes a mold it is 10-15K instead of 100-200K to design and test.

Not all replica's are great but many are built in the same place as the Brand Name.

You just have to be careful of what you buy when you buy replica's but in an SUV I wouldn't worry so much.

The factory will not "one" wheel for one person. In fact they would not make 100 wheels for 100 people. The cost is too much.

Guys, I've also purchased replica wheels and never had a problem with them whatsoever. Purchased mine from Discount Tire on my last Infiniti. You won't be disappointed.

haha.. I love how you found a 2 year old thread. That takes effort!

I've had both a positive and negative experience. They may look nice, but they may not ride smooth at speeds above 65mph. Ive not only experienced it, but I've heard from others as well.
