New Owner: 2005 Cayenne S

Hey guys,

This is my first Porsche and so far i love it. This thing is a beast that never stops. I traded in my 02 Bmw x5 4.4i sport for it and so far dont miss it one bit. Its a black on tan 2005 Porsche Cayenne S with 39,451km. It is orginally a US truck which kinda scared me but after driving it lost all fears. I have 1 year left on the warranty that expires in JAN 2009.

I know its kinda late to ask this question but what should i be looking out for or what are the common problems with the year and model??? All opinions are appreciated.

Thanks

Im happy there is a community like this for fellow owners.

I will get some pics up soon as here in toronto, canada were in the winter seasons. As soon as we have a nice summer day i will wash it up and take some pics.

Another question came to mind...How many miles/km do you guys get on a full tank?? With my 02 x5 i use to get about 650km driving properly and about 580km pedel to the metal...lol...and that was with me paying $105 to fill it up....calling all 05 cayenne S owners...answers would be helpful.

Thanks

Hi 05CS:
I'm new to 6speedonline as well & this is also our first Porsche. We get no more than 300mi to a full tank on our CTT & that's if we're on the freeway the whole time. Around town, probably 285mi or so. We're going to just buy stock in a oil company at the rate we're going.

Wow...should have done some research on the fuel economy before. For some reason i was thinking it was gonna be right around the same as my old X5...I think this will be one of my biggest issues.. 285mi works out to around 450km...paying $110+ for only 450km is crazy as i usually drive around 600-700km a week : ( The power is great and looks but again $110 for 450km is madness...starting to miss my X5..lol

ur mileage seems correct...you said 650km on a tank, so about 406 miles...i get about 380-400 miles on a full tank (608-640km) on a full tank...works out to about 15 mpg, grrrr

yeah gas is a HUGE issue with me on this car, other than that its a dream.

on city driving in Miami, im getting about 280-300 miles a tank. I dont do a lot of highway driving, and more regularly than not I drive fast. As for issues, I have an 05 as well and havent had any issues at all. Congratulations on the new purchase! enjoy it! you will not miss the X5 for one minute, the finish and overall quality of the Cayenne will make the X5 look like a cheap car.

I seem to be getting mixed results. I know everyone drives different but " Fracky" and " Nicolasmora " are claming they get roughly 280-300mi and " SLP " is claiming 380-400mi...in my eyes thats a big difference. I'm on a full tank now and dont have much to do this week so it will take me a bout another week to come to my own conclusion. I would be really happy if i could get the 380-400mi....PLease Help...come on guys/gals which is the more realist figure??

Thanks in Advance

Well, I cruise around town at 40mph & never "hammer it" if that's what you're asking. One of these days I'll drive the CTT like it was meant to be driven. In the meantime I'm enjoying what I consider the perfect car.

The last time I calculated it my wife gets about 9MPG in her 05 TT, factory PowerKit, 22's, and bypass pipes. She does mostly city driving and she has a heavy right foot.

well my 380-400 miles is my usual driving which is ALL hwy....ive taken MANY roadtrips w/my cayenne...and i get about 380-400 miles per full tank, all hwy driving

if i do city its much worse, i rarely do city driving but if i do id say i probably get 300 miles to the full tank...i actually did that this wkend n in a short nite, minimal drivin not too much, i burned a quarter tank of gas...ugh! ha.

im actually thinking of selling the cayenne and getting a cayman, i really dont have a need for such a big car and the cayman im looking at epa estimated 20/28mpg with a range of 392city/529hwy....on a tank thats like 7 gallons (11.2 litres) smaller than the cayenne!

The cayenne has an epa estimated of 14/18...and it sticks pretty true to that.
