The 08 is a facelift with a bump in HP for all the engines.

I believe the 2nd gen Cayenne will be a 2010/2011 model

Your probably getting different opinions because the 08 has bigger more powerful engine, the engine is moved back a little, tighter suspension, and the all around feel of the car is completely different than the previous models.
Got an 08 in June and love the car.. only got the v6 due to gas but don't regret the decision at all seeing i'm only really using it in the city. Have a 645 for interstate driving.

Yes it is going to be redesigned within 2 years. The current body/chassis is 4 years old now, so a redesign around the 6 year mark doesn't seem out of line. It should be coming out a little after the Panamerica.

I'm not sure on a baby Cayenne coming out, I know a hybrid is in the works.

Exactly since its a 2008 model (facelift) given the changes I think the new model is in 2011.
