Thoughts on Gas Mileage
I do plenty of city driving and I'm getting 14.8.... However any trips up or down the interstate (colorado - not california!) gives me a nice 19.2 mpg...
I try and hide these numbers from my wife, who's doing 22-28 in her C230 - hide the receipt - thats the best advice ever :-)

What's taking so long?
Is there a reason you don't go to Hoehn? PM respond if needed.
In respect to other Hoehn customers, I'll send a PM.
Funny thing, I still use Hoehn Mercedes-Benz and Hoehn Honda, just not Hoehn Porsche.

Just fill it up
What even hurts more is the the Gas pump automatically stops at $110 leaving the Cayenne little bit over 3/4 full.
Is the ML320 Bluetec available yet in California?

Just got our '08 Cayenne S a few weeks ago, and compared to the Boxster and Carrera, fill up frequency and cost is a bit of a shock. The few tanks of $4+ juice averaged about 16.5 MPG so far; I figure it will get a little better after break in. This is with mixed commute and highway driving with some canyon driving, no full throttle starts. It's interesting to note that Porsche has redesigned the OBC display to make it much harder to get to the average fuel consumption readout.
The '08s seem to get better MPG than the older models thanks to the direct injection system.
Dealers weren't having any trouble selling Cayennes when we ordered ours a few months ago (and gas isn't that much more expensive today as far as new Cayenne buyers are concerned). I'm not sure how much dealer sales have been impacted yet by higher gas prices - I see lots of new gas guzzlers all around me still. I was more concerned about whether the Cayenne will be worth anything in a few years when gas tops $10/gal. I actually gave serious thought to a lease instead of purchase, with thoughts of a lease buyout at way lower than residual. In the end fI igured we could always live in the thing if housing values really cratered

It was supposed to be available end of this year but last I heard, some treehuggers have again red flagged it due to some emission reason. As a previous H2 owner, I find it ironic the treehuggers always blaming HUMMERS for everything yet they are the real road blockers on so many alternatives.
Meanwhile, VW diesel is supposed to be 50 states legal and available for order next month, delivery in september I believe. The 4 cylinder will be available for the jetta/golf/the new mini suv - tiguan and a V6 for the touraeg & audi Q7. I don't think it will be available for the Cayenne.
Anyways, I wouldn't hold my breath for diesel ever become as popular as in europe now that diesel is almost 20% higher than premium unleaded at my local gas station, it was $4.79 few days ago.

This is my answer.
It cruises and/or goes real fast, handle great, looks cool, and you get 57 mpg on the highway, and 42 mpg city.
I still love the Cayenne, but it doesn't make sense for going solo. When we as a family of 5 go out we take the Cayenne- and it's worth it.

I could get 16PMPG on my 08 s with bypass pipes. I just got the GTS yesterday and drive it very taim and getting 14. It is newer and the more miles the better gas.
If you are spending 90k on a Truck whats $4 a gallon? I mean come on lol
EDIT: I do mainly city driving. I fill up once a week sometimes go longer. If you bought a expedition for 30k and payed 500 a month then yes $4 a gallon would make gas almost as much as your payment lol

A friend has a van- he gets 9 mpg- the Cayenne is a gas sipper in comparison.
Yes it is true- if we can afford the Cayenne, we can afford the gas. I, however, find it appalling that it has gone up so much so quickly, versus inching up through the years; I feel like I'm being raped, as a result. Meanwhile, Mobil/Exxon's earnings are how many billions??? And their execs are making how much???? How many people are trying to put food on the table and can't find work closer to home? Gas isn't the problem, it's the people behind it that's the problem.
I apologize for getting political, but the stories I am hearing of how it is effecting the average Joe is truly sad.

If us Porsche drivers are complaining about gas price, think about what the average drivers out there are suffering through...there maybe families that need to cut other expenses to pay for the gas.
Seriously I don't drive very much daily and gas price does not concern me one bit.

Gas prices, is there a problem? This forum is about the wonders of the driving experince of the Cayenne, not it's economy. Balance in life should be work/play, not performance/gas prices.
