Turbo vs Turbo S

What's the hardware difference btwn an '05 Turbo and an '06 Turbo S? Is it possible to make a regular Turbo into a Turbo S engine-wise? I know a chipped Turbo would net about the same hp/tq as the S but then if you chip the S wouldn't it bump it up even more?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that the only difference is slightly higher turbo boost on the S model. You can obviously raise the boost on regular Turbo to make same boost as S via aftermarket chip, but this will void your warranty.

I'm getting an '05 so the warranty isn't much of a concern anymore anyway. When I bought my '05 Cadillac CTS-V brand new I through a supercharger, full exhaust and tune on it right away. Warranty right out the window

FYI - aftemarket tuning does NOT void a warranty. I have one and have had NO issues and no warranty voiding or even discussion of it from Porsche.

Are they aware of the aftermarket tune though? Maybe it's a 'none-the-wiser' situation?

Cannoli is infamous around these parts
A 955 Cayenne turbo can be configured to a turbo S - the Performance Kit is called the X81 (E81) Kit.

The Performance Kit has the following specs:
- Increased Power from 450 to 500 HP
- Increased Torque from 459 to 518 ft lb
- Increased Acceleration 0 - 62 MPH from 5.6 to 5.3 seconds
- Increased Top Speed by approximately 2 MPH
- An improvement in road handling

The Performance Kit includes:
- new charge air cooler with increased cross section, modified supply and ventilation guides
- reinforced spring struts (air shocks), larger brake discs and brake calipers
- reinforced tie rods as well as improved rubber mounting on the control arms
- new level control unit
- modified map for DME control module

This kit is similar to the 911 X50 kit that can be added to a 911 turbo to become a 911 turbo S (performance-wise).

If you're really serious about this upgrade, contact your local Porsche Service/Parts specialist.

Ditto here ... my RUF conversion was never an issue for my warranty work that I've had done. Then again, if something happened to the turbos (new turbos installed by RUF), I'm sure I'd be out-of-luck.

They are aware of all my mods and it's never been an issue. My dealer is a ballbuster when it comes to warranty items so I am certain that PCNA is not against modifications as they have to prove the mod caused a failure. Simply chip tuning will not cause any failure in the engine or drivetrain.
