09 Audio/PCM

I wanted to get more info about the new PCM so I checked out the German Prosche configurator. Here is what it says using "google translate" (highlights are mine):

PCM:
Central multimedia system including 6.5-inch TFT color screen (touch screen), radio tuner with RDS and double Scan-/Phase-Diversity optimized for reception, including CD / DVD audio playback of MP3 music and audio / video DVDs, 13 external speakers and amplifier (5 x 24 watts). Navigation module with hard drive and card data of most European countries, dynamic route calculation (TMC), perspective map display, automatic route recording and subsequent backtrace navigation and navigation in non-digitised areas with compass and GPS.

Bluetooth (appears to be an option with or without PCM):
In conjunction with Radio: With Bluetooth interface for connecting a mobile phone with the hands-free profiles (HPF). If the free and mute and control the basic functions of the CDR-30 or the multifunction steering wheel, including microphone, wiring and GSM vehicle antenna. In conjunction with PCM: With Bluetooth interface for connecting a mobile phone with the hands-free profiles (HPF). If the free and mute and control the basic functions of the PCM, the multifunction steering wheel or the language control, including microphone, wiring and GSM vehicle antenna.

Bose:
In conjunction with Radio: Digital sound system for the special sound experience. Umfassst total of 14 speakers including active subwoofer and center speaker, 10-channel amplifier with 410 watts total power and original BOSE ® signal processing technology. Microphone for interior noise measurement for permanent optimization of volume and sound picture, optimized for a balanced surround sound. In conjunction with PCM: same functions, but together surround sound on all seats in the Weider transfer of music in 5.1 surround Descrete format.

About time....

FYI, I also noticed that for 2009 the sport seats are the GTS style seats - looks nice!! and there is a new color -Macademian metalic (I dont think so...).

You can check out the UK site. PCM has input for ipod, usb and external audio. CDR-30 has input for external audio only. CDR-30 fills up the hole between the air cond controls. Looks almost as good as PCM now. Macademia metallic is a new color for sure. No info on prices yet.

Yes you are right. After the post I did some more digging and found more info on the UK site. There is some conflicting info (eg output of the Bose system) but all in all these are significant improvements. This now brings the Audio/communication technology in the car more in line with other SUVs such as MB ML and BMW X5/6.

Afew other things found on MY09 configurator (although US specs may differ):

1. Eliminated colors: Carmona Red and Dark Olive
2. GTS Red and Nordic Gold available in all Cayenne models
3. Full leather/Alcantara now standard in GTS
4, Carbon ceramic brakes are delayed until November
