Keyless Entry and Start Option Question
wait... are you guys saying that you ALWAYS have the dummy key in the ignition so that the real one can stay in your pocket? I never thought of that... i guess it seems odd to think of leaving a key in it 24/7. But if it really can't open/start without the real one close by... makes sense.
The Entry and Drive option is great, except for one thing.. the key is so friggen big its not comfortable to keep in your pocket.
I always end up opening the door, then as I get in the car put my keys and cell phone in the cupholder. I would use my valet key, but I like having the option of using the remote and the valet key is so small and light I'm paranoid about losing it.
I wonder if a different style remote/key holder can be programmed to a Cayenne? I'm sure all Porsche's used the same technology in similar year models. Something I may have to look into.. IMO the remote's size is a bit cumbersome ( yeah, yeah -- I know its cute to have the remote look like the car; but keep it practical) <--- rant over with now

I hear you about having such a big key in your pocket but at least its square and has no sharp protruding edges.
2006 M3 key is long and has the metal part of the key extending from the end...thats even worse for keeping in your pocket. And they didn't offer keyless go until 2007 or 2008 on the M3s..probably won't be long before we have some kind of biometric access locks on these cars..

So got an update on this keyless option.
Apparently the CTT I purchased does in fact have the option but it "doesn't work." Not sure what that means technically speaking. The pre-owned dealer where I bought the truck (not a Porsche dealer) had ordered a new key since the truck only had one but when he went to get it programmed at Porsche today they said the "keyless entry and go system" is not working properly. As usual they want $125 to diagnose or whatever and then would be an additional charge to fix whatever is the problem.
Seems strange to me because the keyless entry works fine and with a new key it can't be related to a battery issue. Anyone else have that kind of issue in past with this feature?

When you walk up to the CTT and its locked -- does the door unlock when you put your hand on the handle, while keeping the key in your pocket?
If not, your transponder code is wrong or not programmed. Of if you have the dummy key in and the real key near by and it says, "Key not Found" -- it would be the same issue.
Hopefully that's all it is.
