Looking to change my OEM xenon bulb to a higher kelvin. likely 6000k
does anyone know if the OEM ballasts will support this? has anyone done this?

 

Yes, a hundred times. The bulb temperature does not effect the ballast. You're not changing the wiring/wattage so all is fine. 6000K is a great upgrade. You will love it. (Don't go any higher)

XLR82XS is correct, the color temperature only changes the color and usable light put on the road. This is different from the amount of power it draws which is typically 35w. There are higher output 55w kits out there but you cannot just install a 55w bulb in a 35w kit, you must upgrade the ballasts and igniters as well. I personally find a 35w kit to be more than adequate in terms of light output and usable light but 55w is an option if you want to be a mobile sun

guys, i would make sure you check out your local laws on certain color xenon light output. here in tx it is illegal if your bulb realeases a different color light other than white (ie: blue 6500-8000k, purple 10,000-12,000k). fog light color doesnt matter, just the headlights.

What are they gonna do? Do they drive around with a Binford 5000 Kelvin temperature gauge? Depending on the area cops don't give a **** in MI. Especially downtown Detroit.

True that. Last March got 3 tickets at 2am driving home from the airport after a flight home from birthday celebration in Vegas. Ins.,reg.,def. equip.... I wasnt doing **** wrong my friend riding shotgun (cuemaster) said it best... "This guy deserves to shot in the face.." He was a complete a-hole.

 

Also one thing to remember the more you go up the Kelvin scale the more purple it gets, but as it gets more purple light output actually decreases.

 

i got pulled over the other day and got a ticket for not using my turn signal......it was women cop, go figure..
