'08 Turbo or "09 GTS?
I'm looking to buy one or the other. There's a brand new '08 Turbo with a steep discount, MSRP $109K discounted to $89K or a '09 GTS for about $85K. Both have the options that I like. Which do you think is a better buy? Any major difference in '09's besides bluetooth? I have not driven a Turbo yet.
but parkmaster - if you pin the Turbo in anything other than 1st gear - the 6k + rpm takes you way past impound ranges.
end of the day, like most things, the decision is pretty personal and you really have to make your own call ALSZ06

I just got 09 GTS at quite a discount off MSRP, so equally equipped 08TT (at the current offered prices around 100 grands -- check dealers' "specials") would cost 25% more -- So do the math. Touchscreen PCM with iPod, BT and XM radio is a nice touch also (you can add iPod and BT to PCM2.1, but hardly XM traffic). So, if you have extra $25K, and willing to burn some rubber -- go fot TT, but if you are looking for a nice riding SUV with a huge power headroom -- GTS is a great family station wagon for suburbia men, like myself. Tastes are differ.
You're absolutely right -- let's face the facts: no one really NEEDS any of this stuff, so it's purely what your instincts pull you towards in the end. Whichever one ALSZ06 chooses, he will be a very happy fellow.
parkmonster - up here in Ontario they slipped through a BS racing law - 30 mph over limit - automatic impound - $10k fine. there are stories of the cops leaving people at the side of the road when they impound - tow truck drivers can't take passengers - legal liability issues.
insane rule and it certainly coloured my ability to stomach the chance in the CTT.

For some reason I like the GTS more... Styling, driving involvement, sound, character, seats, etc...
To me, the Turbo has more power at the expense of a lot else... And given that it's an SUV, the GTS has enough power.

So a funny thing happened on the morning I went to check out the Cayenne Turbo last Friday. I drove an hour and half to Sacramento to meet the salesperson at 9:30am. I got to test drive the Turbo and was impressed with the interior and ride. I really like the three different settings from comfort to sport. The turbo also looked classy. However, I was slightly disappointed in the acceleration. I thought with 500hp, it would have a little bit more kick. Maybe it was because I drove up there in my Corvette Z06 and didn't feel the surge like the vette. I know I shouldn't compare the two but I guess my body was used to the acceleration during the 1.5 hour drive. But anyway, I was still impressed but I couldn't make up my mind between the Turbo and the GTS. The GTS had the more sporty look, the better exhaust sound, upgraded PCM, bluetooth and IPod. The turbo's interior impressed me with its leather dash and seats. It also came with the 21" wheels. I stood there for half an hour staring at the two cars and finally told the salesperson that I am going to go have breakfast and make a decision on it.
This is where the funny part of the morning began. While I was eating, I got a call from the BMW salesperson that I spoke with regarding a M6 a few months back. He told me that the GM was willing to take a huge loss on their '08 M6 and give me a great deal. Well, the deal he offered was so good that, immediately, I drove two hours to the Bay Area and picked up a brand new, black M6.
Go figure, I had intentions for an SUV and came back with a coupe. Most times, my car purchases are crazy and impulsive. Oh well, maybe in the near future, I can try to get my wife interested in a Cayenne when she gets tired of her X5.

I would assume that there is still no comparison btwn a C6 ZO6 and an M6. Don't they trap at least 10mph different in the 1/4 (115mph for the M6 vs 125mph for the ZO6)??
Anyway, congrats on the M6!!!
