Porsche does not offer a extended warranty?
So i was in the next town this moring and stopped in the bmw / porsche dealer. ask the service lady about buying a extended warranty on a 2006 cayanne turbo....
She said " You just need to trade it in on the 09 we have out there"
Im like wtf, no...
So she send me to there " warranty specialist...
I walk in we have small talk:
Me: Im looking to buy a extended warranty on a 2006 Cayanne turbo.
Him: Hum...... ill have to look that up no one has ever ask for a warranty on one.
Me: ok, ill wait..
Him: Bill..... ( some bill guy walks in ) This lad would like to buy a extended warranty on his cayann. Bill goes, oh we have a new one you should buy.
Me: No thinks.
Him & bill, Thats the only way you can get a warranty is if you buy another new one.
Me: so you all dont sale extended warrantys.
Bill: No porsche does not offer any extended warrantys at all...
Me: Thats od, so what your just on your own after X amout of mile?
Bill: yes unless you buy a new one.
Me: Thats ok ill pass, For the $50K+ you would want in boot i can buy a lot of broken parts...
So whats the deal? Im new to porsche, but that seem very far fetched that as big as company porsche is they would not sale you an extenede warranty...

PCNA does not extend their warranty. You CAN purchase a 3rd party extended warranty from alot of places ( Its like health insurance on your car ) and there are all sorts of options, prices, coverage, etc... so do your homework and try and not buy based on price alone ( you get what you pay for )
PCNA does offer Certified Pre-Owned warranty on cars that are in stock at a Porsche Dealership... 6yr/100k term.. good for you if you are buying a car, but not so much if you already have your car and want to add to it.
Hope this helps, PM me if I can answer any questions or get you an idea of what they might cost you.

SAFE4NOW is right ; only on the cars they sell will they offer the extended (some dealers may offer one but you can get the 3rd party much cheaper than the dealer)
try http://www.paragonmotorclub.com/warranty/Porsche+ search the web or if you have a reputable used car dealer in the arae they should sell them.

I've heard stories on 3rd party warranty companies though, seems to be different than the factory warranty coverage.... you really have to up keep your car in *top notch condition* in order to get them to pay for the repairs.
I was thinking, hmmmmm,,,,, if I do keep up my car that way (which I normally do), why would I need to buy extra warranty on it?
At least for me, the math didn't come out right.

Kerr - maybe a glimmer of hope for you. I have an 05 with 17K miles. I spoke to 1 dealer after I bought it and he said the same as your guy, but at least he was quick to produce an after ,market warranty brochure from a 3rd party co. I then researched and found that some folks got their local to CPO their cars. I then called a dealer and said " I want to trade in my 05 for your 05 cuz yours is CPO'ed. either that or can you CPO my Cayenne - Answer - "Sure, $3,500, when do you wnat to bring it in?" Who told me that? The used car manager (NOT the service manager or a new car salesman) from a dealer 40 miles away. I then stopped by my local dealer and said, "hey, dealer X is going to CPO my car next week for $3,500, but i am going to have it here for serviec then . . . . can you guys CPO it?" Answer - "What year? How many miles? - Yeah sure - Ok schedule it with service". keep in mind, i was just testing the waters as I really did not have it in for service that comming week. 2 out of 3 said yes. I also posted a comment on another thread from 1 dealer, and I quote ' At the off lease P auctions, P is now in many cases throwing in the CPO '. I also heard from 2 sources that the CPO costs them approx $800 - $1500 depending on the year. If they have to put any major parts on like tires or brakes, thats added to the cost of the CPO.
SO - i can't gar your local will do it, but hit the phones and get the used car guy on the horn.
Also note - If you have more then 60K miles it could be tougher / if there is a documented accident on the title, they won't touch it.
My chances of doing this now are probably slimmer as recently I have done alot of upgrades that might make them balk.

My understanding from a couple of dealers is no problem if you are under warranty and under miles. They have to do their "checklist" and gouge you, but then it's two more years. I would ask around.

thanks guys.
Ive had extended one on other other cars. I had one threw GMAC of all poeple on my G500. Paid $3K for it, $100 deductiable that was good for 3 years or 50K miles.
I called them up and they said " no " we dont do turbo anything. lol...
Ill do some more research.. after having three MB with major electrical problems it only takes afew visits to hit the amout of money the warranty would cost. My last G500 had $49K in warranty problems over 4 years.

Kerr, I bought a CPO warranty from my dealer for my 04 Cayenne S. 2 years or 100 k miles. $3500. So you can purchase a CPO warranty from a dealer, even if you already own the car. They need to certify it, inspect everything and will charge you for a full service, (oil, b pads, coolant)

HELP!!!
hello,
i just bought from a well known la porsche area dealer a 02 tt x50 with 27.5 miles. approx 650 hours on the engine.
ive put approx 5k miles on the car in the 4 months ive had it. i purchased the 2 year factory extended warranty and the car was "certified" at purchase or as you know they wouldnt have let me get the warranty.
my problem: its popping out of 2nd gear mostly when going downhill but never while under throttle.
theyve put the car on scope and told me there were two stage events a #1 event and ONE number 2 event (. one at 650 hours ( when i couldnt have owned the car! ) and another stage 1 event maybe 7200 rpm which i indeed did hit redline as ive talken the car to 130 mph and 120 mph several times. but this was NOT the cause of any trans problems!! they just use that to help them make a determination as to wether or not driver abuse! was a contributing factor which would render their responsibilty to FIX it null and void!
heres my question if you can help!
the dealer who put it up on the rack says that they have to open the trans and break it down completely to determine whether or not I was somehow responsible for the damage to the synchro and that at the least 1st and secon gears need to be replaced and that the synchor does also. the cost to teardown is approx 3800.00 and the cost for repairs is about 8800.00 ! and that they cant sdetermine whether or nor I will be responsible until they take it apart and that i must authpoorize this and take my chances..
now i KNOW i didnt do this damge to the car as ive never ground the gears..its my 3rd porsche but when i had a brand new 993 in 96 porsche gave me all kinds of grief on replacing a wiring harness and i had to get the west coast rep from pc NA involved but they finally coughed up to fix the car.
do you think theyre gonna try and deny me and make some BS claim on a car ive had for 5 k miles and 4 months and try and make ME cover the 9 grand to rerplace 1 + 2nd gears etc?? im ( sorta ) made friends with the service tech and the service advisor and the guy said to me off the record " well.. the guy likes you and its gonna be HIS call when he gets inside the car etc! )..
i just dont have the 9 K to fix it if theyr TRY and deny me the warranty claim!?
what would YOU do, and any suggestions?? thx a LOT!
