Anyone use this DVD and Back-up Camera Hardware solution?
I was poking around on the internet for a back-up camera and a DVD display solution for use in my '05 CTT. I came across two very interesting prospects. They work identically...in a nutshell...
1. You remove the factory screen, plug in an electronic adapter board (like a video card in a computer) and then replace the screen.
2. You connect the adapter board to the other black box component.
3. You plug in a backup camera (they sell prefabricated ones in a slick partial license plate frame) into one of the inputs.
4. You connect a wire to the backup light circuit.
5. You connect a DVD player to the other input.
Done.
When the Black Box senses a backup signal (ie. when you shift into reverse), it overrides the MOST signal to the screen with the backup video.
When the Black Box detects a video input in the other input (ie. the DVD), it overrides the MOST video signal as well.
So, no matter what mode your factory MOST system is in (Nav, CD, Radio, Trip) it will override and send the DVD or backup signal. When you shift out of reverse or turn off the DVD player, it returns automatically to the standard options.
It sounds too good to be true, and it is pretty reasonably priced. But I wanted to see if any of you guys have dealt with this.

I know a lot of people use Navtool on Lexus'. I bought one for the SC430 on Ebay for ~$200 (much cheaper than the $350 retail.) I haven't actually installed it yet, but there's a lot of good feedback.
Something funny you want to know... I made that video 4 years ago
I was the first one to do that conversion and the owner of the company needed some feedback. Anyways the company has been sold off to another company that I deal with also... they can keep the video... too bad I lost that DVD.. my Rob Zombie DVD
Anyways it is a nice simple conversion, I also wrote the owners manual and provided the step by step destructions... the way they wanted to do it would of been problematic in the future, so I came up with a new ribbon method.
I have one for an 04 still sitting around, I do not believe it will work for an 05+ though, I used it for a demo....
Anyways.... would I recommend doing it today with other solutions available? NO! However if price is an issue then use it... I had no issues with the product, but i have heard some horror stories.
If you want to do a back-up camera only, NAV-TV makes a back-up camera interface, programs the radio for camera and when shifting in reverse it works like factory, you can also go to AV and if speeds are below 12mph you can select rear camera.
We integrate the camera in the handle of the Cayenne for a factory look.
Also since the original poster forgot to mention that the piece above has no audio input into the MOST line you would need to add an interface for a stereo signal to be inputed...
2 options there well 3...
1st is to get the AV input which adds audio and video the PCM, on the MOST optical ring and the Video into the back of the radio, they also have a switcher box for like $25 that will show the camera so you can have both
2nd is an aux input for the audio (I have 3 that I used for testing 05+) you toggle a switch and it allows audio on the MOST ring
3rd is the iPod interface, both NAVTV and Mobridge have one, requires removing the changer and you can select disc 6 of the iPod unit and it allows an aux input. The MoBridge give you Bluetooth for a few hundred more than the NaVTV unit. I have used both, and both work great.
So there you go... does this make me famous that I see a video I made on a website? I am surprised though..it made my day
not really... of to work I go...

BTW the difference between the NAVTOOL and NAVTV (NAVVIDEO) unit is the AV functionality of the unit, the NAVTV unit has more and is a better unit than just NAVTOOLS RGB converter pictured. I have no issues with NAVTOOL either, and will need a product from them in the future, just lets say over the years I have become an authority on interfacing video into Porsche's...

Hi,i just found this old post and that you might have an back-up camera interface(ribbon cable to lcd) for a cayenne 04(pcm 2.0 cd nav based)...most of the solutions on the market today are too expensive and also only for the new pcm's(2.1;3.0).If you still have it and you are willing to sell please PM
