Low engine oil light..is this true

My wife has a 06 TTS. A couple months ago we had the oil/filter changed at the dealership. A few days ago my wife says the yellow caution light warning that the engine oil level was low comes on. The car doesn't have more than 2000 miles since the last oil change and I was concerned that we were burning oil a little too fast. So we called the dealership and they said that if you burn more than 1 qt. every 600 miles to be concerned. They also said that the engine holds about 6-7 qts. and the light comes on when the oil level is just 1 qt. low. So we ran it back to the dealership and they added a little over a qt. and the light went out. Is this normal to have the light come on when you're just 1 qt. low and has anyone else experienced this? I guess I'll have the dealership toping off my oil every couple of months if so.

totally normal to use a bit of oil, its due to the spray system on the underneath of the pistons that extra lubricates the bores.

whats a litre of oil every now and again, we all like a little drink...even our porkies.

Did you check it yourself right after the service? Check it yourself and see how it goes over the next couple of weeks.

Mobil 1 brand, 0W-40 (aka straight forty), but you are better off with 5W-40 if you live in a cold climate.

I don't think it's straight forty weight.
