2006 CV6 with cold start engine shake

My wife's cayenne only has about 27k on it, but about 5 different times on a morning cold start, I will notice her engine will shake quite harshly for about the first 5 seconds of operation, then smooth itself out. The car is under factory warranty, so I don't have concerns there, but I am not sure in this vehicle what would cause it...I doubt a cold start solenoid like I had in my RX7TT, but I am not sure. Any experience with this, or should I chaulk it up to the fact it's VW's engine ? I am excited that the new V6 for the next gen will be a Porsche developed, non-shared V6!

Btw, there's NOTHING wrong with that engine... lol.

It's the 3.2L VR6 from the VW bin. It's proven to be quite reliable and I'm sure it's something minor that can be wrapped up at the dealer. I wouldn't be so confident that the P-V6 would be better

Oh and btw... with $5000, a cylinder head spacer, T35 turbo and 15psi of boost this engine will lay down 450hp at all 4 wheels...

I have an '09 V6 and it's doing the same, shakes a bit and calm down smoothly. I brought it back to the dealership and they told me it's normal for the V6 to do that, they also checked out another V6 and it did the same. I hope this help and somebody can verify this.

V6 Cold Start Shake

Same issue with mine. Dealer said it had to do with gasoline being too dirty and blocking the injector needles or something. He said he reprogrammed the CPU and recommended pouring fuel injector cleaner once a month when filling up tank.

Next time you fill up, try a different gas brand.

Hi guy's i am new to this forum but have been a Porsche tech since 2002, the V6 cayenne engine shake is normal on cold starts, it can even make some rattling typr noise. This is a result of the secondary air system acitvating causing the fuel mixture to rich'en upand get the catalytic converter warmed up. If the shaking worsen's it can also be an ignition coil there is updated coils for the V6 too now but there is usually a check engine light followed by severe shaking. Hope this helps

Thanks for the information! It's great to have someone who knows what they are doing chime in. Are the updated coils a TSB or just a customer pay scenario? Would you say the 3.2 is a good solid motor?
