What radar detector would you guys recommend?
This is a question I have been researching for ages.
I keep going between the 9500ci and the Valentine 1 with the m47 blinders added as a laser protection.
It seems the owners of each are extremely happy with each and prmote them as proficient in their tasks. In the end I need to make a decission and just go forward.
I think the 9500ci goes for 1500 or so without install.
I am curious what each cost with hardwire install.

i'm using the K40 calibre system with laser and not very happy with it. goes off with everything..banks,shopping center and everything. i just keep it on mute because driving home will go off 4-5 times and i don't take the highway..my valentine one is better in my other car.
It depends what matters most to you. The V1 is more sensitive, so it will offer slightly better range, but you'll be giving up the ability to know what is and isn't an actual threat. The 9500ix will automatically lock out false alerts.
Not to mention the V1 requires recalibration every year or so. Over time its sensitivity will decrease and it will eventually stop detecting anything at all. I have seen this first-hand. I believe the cost is $85. Escort's radars can recalibrate themselves, and you can even update the software via PC.

The only possible problem I see with the 9500ix and the Thermal Glass option is that the window in the thermal film might be too small to allow both radar detection and GPS to work. The window in the film is very small!
The other thing the 9500ix lets you do is store locations that are known as false readings. It has gps that allows you to store those locations so they don't trigger an alert again. I have had several detectors and the set up I have with the laser shifter has been terrific.
+1
The 9500ix is the way to go my friend. I just sold my first one w/ my 911 and I am buying a new one for the Cayenne. Love it!

2 of my cars came with a K40 built in too. Never used it
