Dip Beam????

While driving today a warning came up "check Dip Beam" ??? could someone tell me what it is and is it something I can change?? I can't find anything in the manual and I called my dealer, all they said was bring it in!!

Any help is appreciated.

Almost forgot, it's an 06 Cayenne S

It is telling you that one of your Xenon headlights is out!

If both lights are out at the same time, it is probably your headlight switch that needs replacing.
If only one light is affected this can be caused by a bad connection at the socket or a dead bulb. Most of the time it is just a bad connection, but the dealer will probably replace both headlight bulbs anyway, as they will tell you that they should be done in pairs.
These Xenon bulbs (D1S 35W) are not cheap as they also have a high voltage transformer attached).

Before you go to the dealer, try this:

Remove the problematic light assembly using the dedicated tool in your toolkit (instructions are in your manual). Make sure that the slide plate is tight as the bolts have been known to loosen over time. Spray both sides of the socket with a special contact cleaner (leaves no residue), wipe with a Q-tip and reapply the cleaner several times. That should do it, if not the socket could be worn out but don't worry as it is designed to be replaceable (small sacrificial pigtail). I don't have the part number, but this pigtail can be obtained from the Parts dept at your dealer. Also when reinserting the light assembly, it is important that you here and feel a firm click when you slowly lock it in with the tool.

Thanks for the info. The warning light only came on once, when I was going over some train tracks. I took the vehicle out later that day and everything was fine. I scheduled a time at my dealer to get checked out since I still have factory warranty.
