I frequent the 997 link frequently but I am now considering buying a Cayenne. I want it as a daily driver. I want to buy a used Cayenne either Turbo or GTS. The other option is a new E250 Avantgarde (for comfort). What year did the 4.8 V8 first appear? Is there a year where the technology shifted markedly, I am guessing the year that the 4.8 V8 appeared? I drove a GTS and loved it, I don't know how they did it but it has a 911 sound out of a V8. Anybody give me guidance on what I should get?

 

2008 models are the 4.8l models, 2009s are when the PCM computer has changed, and 2011 is when everything is gonna change..

 

Wait for the 2011 is you can! You will not be disapointed!

 

go for an 08 GTS - it has the same PCM interface as your 997 - whether or not you like it at least yo don't have to switch across platforms.

anyway, the GTS is a lot of fun - go manual and you will love it
