Tow Package

I just added a 2010 Cayenne Transsyberia. It came with a tow package already installed. The 7 pin connector is covered with a plate. What do I need to buy for wiring. Some sort of a plug cover/outlet. I want to avoid the dealer so do not get screwed. Suggestions on web sites with what I need to buy. Also, what size ball should I get (2 inch?) for the hitch.

Thanks

I would try Sunset Parts in Oregon or Suncoast in Florida.
Search the other forums for specifics as far as matching the Porsche harness to whatever you are towing.

The part you need is PNA-955-118-93 list price $17.50 Sunset price $12.08.The wiring harness plug should be behind the blank plate it just plugs in to the back of the above noted part.

You want the OEM part. My dealer had to order mine from Germany. Since it (the trailer) becomes part of the alarm system, you really want a Porsche part.

The 2" ball has become the standard. While you might be able to get away with someone else's part, the POrsche tongue & ball are reliable. I'd rather be safe & secure than try to save on those parts.

As mentioned above, get the OEM plug...takes about 3-minutes to install. Also, depending on what you are towing the standard ball size is 2-inch, but if towing heavier/larger items go to 2-5/16 ball size.
