Cayenne Navagation HELP!! :)

Hello,

I'm new to the board and so far love it! You guys have some great input!

Anyway I just picked up a 2004 Cayenne Turbo and the navagation isn't working. I have the Porsche nav DVD in the head unit and when I go to enter a destination it says "route guidance not active" so then I go to NAVI settings and try to check the "active" check box and it does for a brief second but then un-checks itself.

Things I done...
Checked to make sure it's the right disc and as far as I can tell it is. It says North America Map Disc or something like that. It has the DVD logo on it where as the second Porsche disc is only a CD. Neither of the discs work.

Checked to make sure the actual GPS locator works and it does, under the INFO button I show 10 satellites tracking me in 3D and it gives current long and lat readings. I also get correct elevation readings.

Checked to make sure map disc isn't scratched or damaged and to the eye the disc looks very clean.

I looked under the passenger side seat for the DVD player that is mentioned in the manual but all that is there is a slide out fire extinguisher.

I'm running out of ideas here guys, please help.

Thanks for your time in advance!

I was having problems w/ my NAV system and upgraded the disks to the PCM2.0. It's for the 04/05 MY PCM 2.0. It's 7 disk that includes North America, Canada, Mexico and Brazil.

Not sure if you need the disks but Sunset sells them at cost for $300+tax and dealers upcharge up to $500 in their parts department. Part number is 000.044.901.21

If you need the set, i'll let my go for $250 with all 7 disk in the original Porsche CD leather/vinyl case.

Hello, The 2004 Cayenne came with a PCM 2.0 which used a CD based navigation. The disk which goes in the head unit is a CD, not a DVD. 2005/06 and on used a 2.1 PCM which is DVD based and has the DVD drive below the passenger seat. Hope that helps...

Oh I didn't realize there were 7 discs. The set I have has 3 discs. Must be old. I finally figured out what was wrong. The Map 2 disc for my region is all scratched and unreadable. When I put Map 1B disc in there and zoom all the way out I see many eastern states and myself way off the map.

What's your email address sfzoo? Can't send you a PM because I haven't had 15 posts. lol I'm working on that.

That does help as I have no idea why my car came with the DVD as well.

Last 'upgrade' to CD Based Nav ?

So, my Jaguar's last update was 2003 & believe me, its useless. Folks on that forum are pretty pissy about it too... Feel left out - . However, why update the CD based when the DVD came out a year later... yeah, yeah.

Anyway, my 2004 also has the original 2004 disks... OLD & USELESS due to growth (remember, they probably have 2002 info on them).

What's the last update I can get ? I'm sure they're made my Navtech anyway.

Rob, the latest update was in 2008, with 2007 date and info...however, it is a real improvement and has data that my two year old (2008) Tom Tom misses. It's a seven disk CD set.
