Cayenne s - 2006 model

Hi everyone,

I am new here and just bought a Cayenne S - 2006. I have the following problems and appreciate some insight from the experts here.

1. It is about the coolant temperature readings when driving sporty. Sporty mean driving fast therefore RPM always high because of acceleration. It seemed when I drove sporty the coolant temp would jump up to the range fairly quickly (the temp gauge is normally at the center i.e. 12 O'Clock). As soon as I settled down and drove normal the temp went back down to the normal position. In this instance aircond is always switch on.

And, lately if I leave the Car sit at idle for more then 30 minutes without the aircond the temp gauge would also move to the high side. But, once aircond is switch on the temp gauge will go back to normal that is at the center. Do you think this is the fan? How many fans on the Cayenne? Or, is this something else?

2. My car is on the standard 18" without the air suspension. The ride is firm and in my country the road can sometimes be a bit bad and found the car to be a bit bumpy and harsh specially for the rear passenger. This is my first time owning a SUV and of cause comparing it to the ride of a saloon car. Anyway, is there a way to further improve the ride? Tire pressure setting by Porsche very high at Front=38psi and Rear=43psi, is it ok to reduce the presurre? If yes to what amount?

A workshop here recommended to me to cahnge to KW V3 and he said that the rebound and compression can be adjusted, and if set to the most comfort setting will make my car more comfortable then the OEM suspension. Anyone tried this before and is this true?

Thank you

When I first started towing, I shifted the tiptronic manually and my coolant temperature guage rose significantly. My dealer service manager advised me to "let the car drive itself." When I left the transmission in Drive and let the car drive itself & shift completely automatically (and stopped manual shifting), the temperature guage stopped going up so high.

When I lived in Arizona the Air Conditioning had to always be on during the summer. The car handled that nicely without any sign of overheating but running the AC does use a noticeable amount of power. Shutting it off allows far more power to hit the tires.

Why let the car sit & idle for 30 minutes? They are designed to be moving and the radiator works better at cooling when the car is moving and air is passing through the radiator.

I think you can fit 17" tires on a Cayenne S and that might improve your ride. I'd try that before changing the suspension and or struts. Avoid All Terrain tires. Avoid 19" tires because they ride hasher.

The air suspension of the Cayenne Turbo allows for a very comfortable ride that is selectable for firmness and ride higth.

On my Cayenne Turbo there are two different settings in the PCM: One for partial load which employes lower (softer) rear wheel pressure, and one for full load which has higher rear wheel pressure and makes the ride stiffer.

I hope this helps.
