Quick question for the group...shortly after taking delivery, I'm planning on having the coolant pipes switched out for aluminum as a preventative measure. At the same time, I was thinking about having new intakes and an IPD plenum put on to give the beast some more power. Can't quite afford an ECU tune at this point, but wanted your thoughts/experience with those two mods, specifically whether you think the upgrades make a difference in driving.

Steve

Hi Steve and welcome!!

Yes swap the coolant pipes, it's inevitable they will go at some point. Mine went at 70k.

As far as the intakes go...yes yes yes. It sounds awesome! One of the best mods I did thus far.

The plenum looks pretty cool installed and many have said it's a great upgrade however as far as performance I can't tell you which mod did what. I didn't go about it in a smart way as far as a modular stage tune. I got it all in at the same time and installed everything all at once then went and terrorized the neighborhood.

I have an extra IPD plenum for my other CTT that was never installed if you want it. I think they list at $895 (IPD) and I paid $795 but I'd be willing to let it go for $600 if you wanted it. I bought 2 with the though process that I'd put one on both CTT's but my thought process changed when I decided to keep one CTT completely stock. IPD claims an additional 30+ HP gain right on their site.

Shoot me a PM in you're interested.

Excellent feedback, thanks. Interested in the IPD, for the look and the bump...once I have the pipes in let's talk.

FYI, can't PM until more active on the board, but I'll post some pics once I take delivery...

Did you already order the pipes?

No worries, I replied to your post on my profile page with my email. Fell free to email me.

I have spoken to 3zero3, they are going to do the pipes once my CTT is delivered (early next week). Turns out the kit will be almost exactly the same $$ compared to Sunset, less than Suncoast if you factor shipping.

xTapouTx and other CO people

Hello all, first post, sorry to drag up an older thread, but I was specifically looking into a good tune in CO, tried to PM TapouT but I do not have 15 post yet, so no PM allowed.

I picked up a nice CTT (at least I think so) from someone who was already on 6speed, found it on CL and after one test drive I had to have it. Exhaust, intake, intercoolers all done...... sounds soooo nice. Nowi I want to see what tunes are out there, and how they perform. I know a tune can make a huge difference especially at our altitude. Love to meet up TapouT, and go for a spin.

My CTT is an 04 with high miles, had a leaky steering rack, but other than that I'm real pleased with it. I replaced the rack myself, I'm a heavy equipment mechanic, so I jump right in on issues with cars that I feel I can fix.

Anyways, my email is coyote11p@netscape.net and I would really like to go for a ride in a CTT that has a Tune, someone who has the first stage mods like mine and has added a tune drop me a line so we can meet up, I'm learning all I can about the Cayenne as I go. Regards, Patrick

Hello Coyote11/Patrick,

First and foremost congratulations on the purchase of your new CTT. They are such fun cars! I now own two, one of which was EVO's GT700 CTT demo. No matter how many miles these things just keep on sitting you back in your seat.

Anyway I'd be happy to let you feel the difference with the tune. I'll email you and see what we can work out.

Until then enjoy!

Hey TapouT

Thanks for the warm welcome, email received and replied to, you are just down the road from me, a meet up is definitely in order. Using this opportunity to say hey, and get my second post under my belt, then I can hit that magic 15 and be able to PM people as well. Everyone.... I'm in Parker CO, happy to meet and talk cars with all. Also as a mechanic I can also help others out when in need. I have a welder a plasma cutter Oxy Acet, press all that stuff, willing to help anyone out that is having issues, or just wants to talk about these beasts we drive.

Greenwood Village. The only change to near perfect vehicle is the Sprint Booster. Changes from what the engineers designed are money pits with little benefit. If it makes an owner feel better that his truck makes more noise (exhaust) than when it was made...... buy a Corvette. I drive my Carrera when I want fast and drive the Cayenne when I need a truck. ECU mods that create 5% gain for $1,000...... well, you do the math.

I tend to agree with this on naturally aspirated vehicles, especially at our elevation, but anything forced induction has soooo much more potential left to be had. That whole altitude loss can nearly be offset, and in some cars beyond with a GOOD tune, not a generic run of the mill, but a good reputable tune that takes in to account our..."air density deficiency". Haven't seen you at cars and coffee in a while Steve, hope all is well, and nice to see you back in a Cayenne.

True. Tons can be done with turbo. I may do the Triple-Bypass. I have to look into the remaining PCA events for the year and see what can be put on the schedule. We did Saratoga Springs with the Alpine group two weeks ago. It was a blast.

Intro / Ride along

Hello fellow Coloradans!

Quick intro / request for a ride along here.

I am a turbo vehicle enthusiast and engineer. All the vehicles I own have at least one turbo on them, except for the wife's jeep. Hoping to change that soon with the purchase of a Cayenne.

I am a bit torn as to which Cayenne to pursue the 955 Turbo or the 955 Turbo S...

I do all my own maintenance, so no issue there. I also TIG weld and fabricate, I built my own front mount intercooler and hard pipes on my Mirage drag car (times in signature.)

I have ridden in a 955 Turbo, but only briefly.

Is it at all possible to meet up with any of you folks to have a ride along?

Ultimately the wife has final approval of this so she would accompany.

Best Regards,

Ben
