2011 Cayenne Hybrid Ordered!

Just ordered my 2011 Cayenne Hybrid!!

I struggled between getting it and the Turbo for quite a bit, but finally settled on the hybrid. My reasoning was that the hybrid is as fast (if not faster) than my current 2007 BMW X5 4.8i, and I have never felt I needed more power in the X5. I have often wished I got better gas mileage, and hopefully the hybrid will provide that. I also have a 2008 Aston Martin Vantage as a fun sports car, so I can always hop in that when I want to do some fun driving.

My concern with the hybrid is that it is first year production of a new technology, so I do anticipate a few recalls/issues, but that is the price of early adoption!

So onto the fun stuff. Below is my vehicle configuration:
  • Dark blue metallic
  • Standard interior in black
  • Burmeister surround sound
  • PCM w/Nav module
  • Telephone module
  • Voice control
  • XM satellite radio
  • Adaptive sport seats w/comfort memory package
  • Reversing camera with park assist front and rear
  • Bi-Xenon headlights and PDLS
  • 19" Turbo wheel
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Heated 3 spoke multifunction steering wheel
  • Heated front seats
  • Seat ventilation front
  • Dimming outside/inside mirrors
  • Thermally and noise insulated glass w/privacy glass
  • Heated windscreen for privacy glass
  • Increased capacity fuel tank
  • Air suspension with PASM
  • Roof transport system and rails with moldings in aluminum
  • 8 Speed Tiptronic
  • Non-smoker package
  • Comfort lighting package
  • Aluminum brushed interior package
  • Stainless steel front and rear skid plate

Congratulations! That's going to be a beautiful truck.

Which CA dealer did you use? Were they able to work with you on the price?

Thanks Bill. I use Carlsen Porsche in Redwood City. I work with Tom Yamamoto and have known him personally for a number of years. My experience with him has always been nothing short of stellar and I highly recommend him.

As far as price goes, I've known these guys for long enough that I basically order the car I want and don't negotiate up front, as they have always given me a very fair deal.

It's always nice to have a pleasant car buying experience. When do you plan to be able to take delivery?

My X5 lease is up in October so I've asked for an October delivery. Hopefully the panoramic sunroof should be available in time for my build!

As well folks should know that the online configurator does not yet show the roof rails in black, but they will be available after July

I don't know about the 2011, but previously the roof rails conflicted with the pano roof.

Very cool.

I would imagine that when the tuners get ahold of them they could be even faster. The supercharged V6 looks to be the same one in the 2009 Audi S4.

That is very true; hopefully they've fixed this on the 2011s. I watched the autospies video on the cayenne carefully and noticed that the turbo had the pano roof (marker 13:28) and the roof rails (marker 17:12). So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that production will support both. If not, then roof rails win - much as I like the pano roof

cool video! Congrats on your purchase. I have the Lexus 250hs hybrid. Nice car for daily driving, but I think I am going to cave in and trade both cars on the Cayenne turbo. I will be looking forward to your reviews!

I think the Turbo is going to be an absolutely awesome vehicle.

My initial thinking was also going down to one car with the thought that the Cayenne Turbo would satisfy both my need for an SUV as well as provide enough get up and go to satisfy the need for speed.

However, every time I've gone down the "one car will do it all" route, sure as rain I've ended up getting a second car 6 - 8 months down the road. Like right now, the Vantage V12 is sure looking good

Ah, it is a sickness!!! The devil on my left shoulder is already making excuses as to why I should change my order to a turbo. Unfortunately he is easily twice as loud and talks four times as much as the angel on my right shoulder... Help me!
