I know there is a sponsor here that does Cayenne steering wheels and they look very cool. I just can't see the $700-1,500 for a steering wheel when I know cool wheels can be had for much less.

After talking to several guys restoring and customizing other Porsches I have discovered that there are several companies that will restore and thicken your stock wheel for around $300 with nice leather and custom stitching. Some will also add the contours for a fitted feel for a small extra fee.

There are several here on 6 speed that have done this with other cars. Just curious if anyone here has done a Cayenne, who did you use, and do you have any pictures?

You might also want to post on the 997TT forum. Lots of folks over there have redone their wheels.

Yeah. That is partly where I was looking. The recovers look nice. Just curious if anyone had a Cayenne one done yet?

Have a really nice Momo in my Porsche 951 that was only $200. Just which they made a wheel that would fit the Cayenne with the airbag.

Example of 3 spoke 911 wheel i had re-done, 2 weeks turn around time, all hand work, i really wanted suede w red stitch, cost was $425 including shipping (to Switzerland). I also had BMW M3 wheel redone w perforated and regular leather + padding for extra thickness ($100 extra) + "Famous" Motorsports Tri-color stitching.
I believe the gentleman who is in his 70s is a real artist when it comes to any leather work, also a man of his word. M3 Wheel came back w slight flaw on perforated leather and he took care of all expenses to get it back, fix it, and ship it back to me.
Next project is TT, THICK, baseball stitched, Camel colored leather wrap on the wheel!

PM or Email me if you interested in more info.

Thanks. That looks really nice and a reasonable price.

Any idea if they can retain the heated wheel option?
