I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a strange noise coming from the rear of my cayenne. It occurs when reversing and in particular if I gently accelerate in reverse and then suddenly take my foot off the accelerator (ie no brakes at all). The noise is a dull thud.

I have heard this too . I did figure out what it was but i can't remember right now! I will pay close attention over the next couple of days and report back .

 

I have the same noise in my Cayenne. It has been occurring since I got the car in 2005. All the noises/problems come out in cold weather. Right now everything is smooth.
