My CT has been delayed by another 2 months! $#%#%!!!

It's not the cost of the 14 to 15 qts of oil yearly that bothers me but the fact it needs to be done at all on my wife's luxury SUV. I'd expect to do so on my CGT.
As for the tires being at the wear bar at 6k miles, I don't even drive it 5% of the time but rather my wife who was pregnant for several months and is now driving around a newborn drives it the other 95%+ of the time and does so like a grandma. So, I think it's safe to say the tire wear would be MUCH worse if it was actually being driven remotely like a sports car. Again, I replaced tires on my 911 every year (after appx 4k miles) and expected it because it actually IS a sports car and actually was driven like one. As well, the diff between the TT and CT is 1500 lbs which may be what causes the excessive tire eating. But then again, while Porsche says 6k conservative miles is "normal" to run all four tires to the wear bars, I've yet to hear that more than 1 other person has had remotely similar mileage experience with thier CT tires.
The alternative for us will be a Lexus LX since the Cayenne really has no storage space after the stroller is in there, and we don't want something that requires excessive maintainence and multiple warranty and TSB visits to the dealer.
The CGT on the other hand, is just a dream, so far.

Maybe, just Maybe your wife has a side that you don't know about. Maybe she is a hardcore driver when your not around... maybe you should take her out in the CGT and see what she does

I don;t have a Turbo or the oil consumption problem but that would annoy me too...I don;t love it on my TT but it is not that big a deal...
The throttle response, even after every possible 'update', adaptive throttle bs and all the rest...SUCKS...it is a joke how bad it shifts.
You are lucky you have a chance to avoid this POS..
It is close to great...but....with the sloppy tranny and software, it is a DOG.
woof.

btw,,,,I think our extreme reactions (Ben and mine) are because we really want to love out Cayennes...there is much to love...
But when it lays down and lags like hell....I want to pour gas on it and light a match....
I don't know what to buy either....certainly, like Ben, I am not giving Porsche another chance on a Cayenne...and my mission is to talk every and anybody out of buying one...
I just got a place in NYC and am driving in NYC traffic every day....the Cayenne is truly at it's worst in aggressive stop and go traffic....
I just had it in for service and it is 90% improved....and it still is horrible....
I thought my old Allroad was bad with a very similar 'laydown'...I never expected a Porsche to be even worse..
My gf's Tourareg is just as bad or worse with terrible shifting and lagging...

Ben and Condolit,
I appreciate your replies. I have a rule of thumb of avoiding 1st year production cars because it takes at least a year for all of the bugs to be worked out. It seems like the turbo lag you have with your CT's is what's really driving you guys crazy. I would prefer to drive my CT(if it ever gets here) in Tip mode so it will be a negligible problem for me. I would really be pissed if there were serious quality control issues like the interior coming apart or engine leaks. Other than the turbo lag/oil and tire consumption have you guys experienced any other major problems with your CT's? Thanks

I've had a few other problems with the truck which has necessitated more first year warranty visits than all other of the new cars I've bought "combined"! Much of it has been fixed (remotes that don't work AT ALL - TSB, rear glass popping open randomly and refusing to close - TSB, lack of air coming from rear vents, fogged up headlights - TSB, my CGT still has this problem, driver memory seats forgetting, and I'm sure there are a few I'm forgetting). But you know what? IF they'd fix the hesitation, I would be ok with both the tire wear and oil usage IF AND ONLY IF it was a common to all or most CTs - but it is not.
My wife just loves the way it drives and if I shield her from having to deal with the tire and oil BS, she won't turn loose of it - despite the lack of storage. The thing is so close to being a homerun worthy of it's cost, but the shortcomings in our particular truck make it a strike out at 1/2 the cost. If the oil usage and tire wear really isn't "normally" as bad as what we're experiencing (Porsche claims it is "normal" , but I can't find people around here with similar experiences - to the contrary), I'd happily shut my mouth and sing it's praises if Porsche were to put us in one that doesn't have these attributes - and doesn't have the hesitation many report not experiencing. I'm really not nearly as difficult to please as you might think.

I'm sure you've asked Porsche for a replacement, what did they tell you? I'd think that owning a CGT would give you a little more pull with the co. Do you live in Cali?

psychoflex,
I have an 05 S not a CT...
I guess my S got pissed about my posting, cause the airbag light went on and stays on as of this morning...
It was suggested that I turn PSM off to get crisper shifts...this does not at all work for me. All it does (in traffic) is make the drive much more uncomfortable with the shifting being very jerky.
WHen I use the heat, I get a very annoying hum..brought it in for a fix and thought it was fixed...now it is back...
I have brought my Cayenne in for updates and annoying fixes several times, there really seems to be a serious quality control problem...
I guess I could live with any of it, if it shifted like you would expect from a Porsche.... it is just not right....again....at it's worst in stop and go traffic...
I am amazed that more people don't complain about it.
You very well may not be able to feel this on a test drive....
