New owner already with problems

Hello all, Im a new 06 CTT owner who is already having a problem. The PCM screen has decided to display black and white snow. I have read a few threads where this is a common problem, but havent read much about a way to fix this problem. Any info on what needs to be done to rectify this problem. All was well this morning, but through out the day the screen started acting up and became almost ghostly with its display. A few light finger touches fixed the problem. But now hard finger touches doesnt help. I can hear the radio and change stations, but the screen is non functional.

Johnny - check my tutorial here:https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ml#post2618402

Unfortunately it's a sign that the screen / contacts are going bad. I included the eBay dealer link in the tutorial. Really not that hard to fix.

Thank Roxboxx for the link. Have you found this to be a successful replacement? Comparing the new with the old, does the new unit look "over engineered " so this problem wont happen again?

Replaced it over 6 months ago and no issues ever since. Over-engineered - no - total 1 to 1 swap with all connectors and soldier joints looking identical to the OEM (as this is OEM). This one will probably fail in 5 years also.

medtech is infamous around these parts
Mine was replaced under warranty.

IMO, the best solution is to install a Pioneer Avic.

I ended up buying a replacement LCD screen for it. I didnt want to loose the steering wheel controls and the little instument gauge display for the nav.
Perhaps if all else fails I will end up with an aftermarket unit. Thank Roxboxxx for the instructional videos and the ebay seller link. It doest seem to be to difficult to swap out.

I have a similar problem and the dealer wants to replace the whole PCM unit for $2000. How do you just replace the LCD screen and where did you get it done? Thx.

I have an 04 and the screen works fine but the radio/nav etc is not functional most of the time. Sometimes it says error and other times it looks like it should work but no sound and no function out of it. Is this the same fix? Has anyone heard of this before?
