use the tip to reduce the lag, I never put it in auto for the past 6 months LOL!
so all we have to do is have our wives who wanted an automatic luxury vehicle for transporting children drive it like a manual transmission? btw, doing so doesn't in any way reduce off the line hesitation necessary for crossing and/or getting into traffic.

Jamy you must be kidding I have driven many X5 4.4's and even though the truck is not great looking and a little dated it is a better truck then the Cay "S" or Turbo for that matter at a fraction of the cost with less aggrivation a loaded X5 can be had for less then 60k this is the level of a moderate option Cay "S".

Tipmode does not fix the problem..neither does turning off PSM...

I try both every day...

It helps to be in Tip....but....not a fix...still hit the 'dead zones''...press the gas and nothing happens...not only on turns...

crappy software...it is a freaking joke...

If I could test drive a Turbo for a week of commuting and it did not have the crappy shifting problem my S has, I would probably get it...

But I am gunshy...and pissed that I have had to deal with all this crap in a $70K Porsche.

My only consolation is that it is not a $100K Porsche....

That's what I said after my 70K S. Somehow I convinced myself to try the CT and I am glad I did. Shifts great, little lag, no oil burn and no intermittent steering wheel shim/vibration. My car has the latest ecu software and the newest tip controller unit that was done when I picked the car up last fall. 4500 miles so far and I am happy...cautiously

Do you mean the V10 Diesel? I don't think they have a W12 Touareg.

The diesel does kick some serious ***. Over 550 TQ!! And like you said, much nicer interior than Cayenne.

Ours has the latest software too but does have the lag and crappy shifting. As well, our car has the intermittent steering wheel shim/vibration to go with voracious oil and tire use.

Ben,

Can't you get them to take it back?

I think if you keep bringing it in for the same problem you would have a good chance of getting a new one or a refund.

I am considering it but don't know what to buy.

I love much about the Cayenne, I could live with all of the problems if it had 'crisp' shifting like most other cars and trucks I have driven.

The 'dead zones' that I experience sometimes just drive me up the wall. Especially now that I drive in aggressive, heavy NYC traffic. The cayenne does not like these conditions whatsoever...It prefers the open road...

There's nothing to fix because it's all "normal".
