Turbo doubt

Hey guys,

I have a cayenne turbo on order, due here in late April. Im starting to have second thoughts about it. Im reading lots of complaints about tremendous turbo lag, along with excessive tire wear and oil consumption. I can deal with tire wear and adding oil, but the turbo lag would drive me insane, I'm afraid. I was able to test drive a cayenne turbo a few moths ago, and didnt really notice alot of turbo lag, but didnt really get to run it very hard. I passed on an opprotunity to buy a BMW X5 4.8is, but now Im wondering if I should have gotten the bimmer. Any thoughts??

Easy, go for a longer test drive to determine if turbo lag is really a problem for yourself. I think a NA S version would be better than a X5 if you do decide against the turbo.

whats the big hype about the new supercharged range rover... the Cayenne S beats it in terms of acceleration and top speed

The new range rover is as pointless as the cayenne. The range rover is a off-road legend the 380hp supercharged v8 wont make it a sports car. It will still be slow but now crippled by the wheel and tire combo.

Tranny lag and sloppiness on top of Turbo lag...not to mention many other annoying problems....

Good luck!

depends. If you are a very picky person and every little detail matters then get the S. If a little lag doesn't bother you then the TT is for you. I am sure you are hearing this from people who also has a Ferrari and Lambo. They are more enthus. and they are used to much more linear power.

Seriously, if you have questions between the two - Arling is the man for you.

Also, ask them to let u take the car out for extended drive. If you are dropping mad cash like that, you owe it to yourself to test drive it for an hour at least....

my 2cents.

If a LOT of life threatening lag does bother you, than you should get the S except many S owners are complaining about the same traight since turbo lag is just part of the problem. As well, while "some" CT drivers may be used to linear power in the other cars, many complaining also have 996TTs in which they don't experience the problem.

been raining crazy like ever before in SoCal lately & i can say the Cayenne Turbo is the best & safest car i've ever been in. the weather makes me realized it's a shame to drive the car in normally sunny day in CA becasue it truly shines in bad weather condition in both performance & handling.

Arling,

What is your take on the turbo lag, tire wear, and oil burning issues? By the way, I hope to get my leather sunvisors for the Scab today!
