Cayenne key without Porsche Entry and Drive (PED)

This might be a stupid question but from what I notice, Cayenners equipped with PED uses the same key as ones without PED.

Does that mean all Cayennes are equipped with sensors that detect if the key is present in the vehicle to determine if it should allow the car to start?

So say if one were to buy a dummy key (like the ones used on PED equipped Cayennes) and use it to start the ignition, would that work? Has anyone tried?

Car will not start without key in car. It however will continue to run if say you let your wife out at Grocery store and you run down the street to fill up with gas.

Once you turn off to fill up uh oh your stranded till she walks down to get you with the key.

It happened to me. The new Cayenne key is to big for me to put on my DD key chain with he other 50 keys I must need for some reason.

other than that little problem the PED is great

If your Cayenne was not built with the keyless option, the dummy key will not start your car.
