This is a silly question. If the question was "<2006 Turbo vs. >2008 S", then maybe I'd pick the S, as it is a more recent model. In my opinion, it's a waste of money to invest in the first gen. cayenne, since it is really really outdated and will be worth nothing. Also, it doesn't look good anymore... My $0.02..

IMO that is the dummest thing I have read on these forms yet.

The first gen cars are the best bang for the buck deal you will find anywhere.

As the saying goes "A fool and his money are soon parted".

Not worth an EXTRA $40,000-$100,000 to me to so that some teen boy can think I have the latest greatest model.

I decided on the 2006 S today mainly for insurance reasons. I always pay cash for my cars in order to limit reoccurring monthly expenditures, and my insurance co wanted crazy cash for the turbo which would have almost felt like a car note to me. If it weren't for that, I'd have bought the turbo for sure. Driven both several times back to back and the turbo definitely puts a bigger smile on the face.

Congratulations!

Can't believe the insurance is that much different. Are you young enough that the performance rating matters?

I'm 28 and with Safeco. I have 3 vehicles and my home w/ them. The difference would have been several thousand a year to go from S to Turbo for me. I know it may seem silly to make a decision over that amount when its probably not even 1% of the car's original value, but I'm a stickler for the budget .

Correction: I guess it is more than 1% (early morning math) but still, not much.

That's crazy. My 04 CTT hardly costs a grand a year to insure total.

Granted, I'm 39 and have 7 vehicles and a home insured.

It may be time for me to start shopping around...

(annual)
2004 Mazda RX8: $1412
1996 Lexus LX 450: $1214
1973 Datsun 240z: $90
2006 Porsche Cayenne S: $1715

I want to say the Turbo would have been $4k a year.

Great point - I am living in the beautiful state of Louisiana where 50% of the drivers do not have insurance and people drive around trying to get you to hit them so they can start on their early retirement.

I was just about to point out the location variable. I'm in Denver(so not rural).

Just for inforormation here. I use State Farm and the Ctt is $1080 a year full coverage, zero dedutcable windshiled and roadside on it.
