Cayenne S tranmission is made in Japan.

who makes the transmission and why are they using the Japanese transmission. I don't think it really makes a difference to me, but just curious to know more and the history of this.

u know the turbos are made in JP as well. u know the tip box in 996 is made by Mercedes. no big deal as long as it drives like Porsche i guess.

if u dig into it u'll be hard to sleep tonight... btw, the hood crest u got is made by Porsche... in China!

Aisin Transmission

The Cayenne transmission is made by Aisin in Japan. I wouldn't worry about the transmission, they make a majority of the Toyota/Lexus transmissions.

I am not worried at all. I just wanted to know for my basic knowledge. I bought the car because the way it drove. And when I test drove the car, it had the same transmission, so no biggie for me.

Toyota is a very reputable company and I think it will only help the reliablity of the car by adding the Toyota tranny.

I think its better that they are made in Japan otherwise it will have more problems...

Porsche Panorama has a neat article on how many components on a Porsche are subcontracted out. There's even a list of the components and vendors.

There's no official number, but it looks like 20%-30% of our cars are made of 3rd party parts.
