2006 Turbo S or a 2008 Turbo?

I'm debating getting either a 2006 Turbo S or a 2008 Turbo. Assume both vehicles will have low mileage and will be priced about the same. What are the pros and cons? I know the S has a slight advantage on power, but it sounds as if the 2008 has more of the mechanical issues worked out?

believe it or not, 06 TT-S are cheaper than the 08 TT.. if i can afford the 08's, i will go and get that (as you said, most mechanical issues may have been worked out).. though (for some reason), i still like the look of the 1st gen cayenne (IMHO, it's more porsche than the other 2).. the Turbo-S badge though make it unique than the other (and maybe will hold it's value??? since it's the first Turbo-S on the Cayenne line)

You are right about the price actually. 06 Turbo S's are in the mid-high 40s now while the 08 Turbos are in the 50s.

The2008 Turbo has almost as much power as the TTS. I would get the 2008 with the updated look and possibly factory warranty remaining.

Yah, I'm not in any big hurry. I'm thinking that a year from now, there should be a lot more 2008's available from lease returns and such. At that point, the prices should go down quite a bit as there should be more of them on the market.

whatever you do just don't sit in the 2011 model or you'll start trying to justify the extra money real fast. I did this yesterday and now i'm looking at the new models. Before then I was looking at the 06 turbo s and 08 turbos. I might wait a year and get a low mileage 2011 used though.

what i did exactly!! my mind was on an 06 CTT (and then hoped that there comes a time i can get a CTT-S), and then a deal comes along for a 06 CTT-S.. several times i have test drove and almost signed a deal for a 08-09 Cayenne S/GTS (because of low mileage and warranty coverage).. and would be in the same situation if i have not restrained myself in trying out the new ones..

the prices on the 08's-10's models and the upcoming 11's have drove the prices of the 06-TT and TT-S down.. it'll be the same when there are a lot of 11's in the market come next year

06-TT-S when you get one maybe on the lower 40's.. depending on the mileage and number of owners.. dunno if these are "rare" than the 09 TT-S so the number of units in the US market may also dictate the price(s) on these..

2008 of the two you listed as options. Better option for many reasons but I'm sure you're doing the research to already know that.

I figured I'd update this thread. Looks like I'll be getting an 06 TTS, however, it only has 24k miles! I'm going to check it out next week. If all goes well, I think that I'm going to get it.

IMHO...anything with S badge holds its value better than the regular...(given that both are maintained properly)..ofcourse i like the 08(4.8L every little c.u helps)..but in the long run....that reg TT 08 and the 06 CTT-S (S!) will have the same value(which i am hoping.(no pun intended)...(its the rarity/history whatever you call it)of the car .. thats what holds it value..if i read it correctly only 600 cayenne turbo S came out in 2006 and only that year and was first release(in the U.S)... none in 2007 (pls. correct me if i'm wrong)..and then porsche released it again....just correctly me pls if im giving the wrong info.... cheers!!

just a little story why landed on this CTT-S..
I was actually eyeing on a 2003 Audi RS6(4.2L..TT-V8)the whole entire summer it is also limited (in the US)..only 800 released and only in 2003......Thank goodness i came across this CTT-S.....now everytime i drive the CTT-S..i feel like im driving the rs6 too..(but much refined).....

Inferno,

I had the same dilemma, but I decided to go with the 08CTT. Yes, IMHO the 06TT-S will probably carry more value in the long term. But for me, the differences between the 955 and the 957 was the deciding factor. PDCC - When I test drove a 955, there was a little lean when you take corners hard. With PDCC - NO lean, stays flat like the Porsche cars we love. Except for the gas mileage, I like driving it more than my 05 Boxster S that I do drive pretty hard at times.

I see others are having the same issue as I. The only thing that kept my eyes on the 06 TTS was the extra 20hp and the exclusivity. Then I drove an 08 TT with PDCC and the PDCC was the deal changer. So hopefully this spring I will join the ranks.

Now, what to do with my 996, keep her or trade her in???.. hmm.

For some reason the newer cars dont anything for me..
usually i would buy the newest stuff,I probably had the most Cayennes in this forum.. but aside from the
new diesel engine I dont like any of them..is that weird? anyone feel this way? I prefer the rawness and funky looks of the 955, am I considered a Cayenne Purist? or I'm getting old...hahaha!!

to answer the OP.. i paid low 40's for my 06 CTTS it has one owner and 44kmiles.. I used to own an 05CTT with E81 package when the 08CTT came out.. I drove it and
i didnt feel any point to upgrade.. then the gts came out, i like it but still not worth it.
