Ignition Coils

When you replace the coils is this a permanent fix or is this an ongoing concern? Is there a certain year or part number of coil that is issue free? My coils were replaced in early 2007, and unsure of them with all the issues everyone has with them. Obviously the original stock units (2004 CTT) failed within four years, and now wondering about the 2007 batch. Thanks, Troy.

There is no "permanent fix" for anything auto-related.

There will always be coilpack failures. Some will fail less than others.

There will always be updated coilpacks. It is the nature of the beast.

All parts fail in the fullness of time. Motor on...

Just Got Mine replaced today under the New Warranty Extension Program , apparently they had never been replaced and my CTT had no Check Engine issues but if the warranty pays so who cares right?

So how did you go about getting them covered under warranty if there wasn't a check engine light? Did you do them yourself or have the dealer check it out? Mine seems aprehensive about taking a look at them for me. I have an 04 running the originals and I just want them to check the coils out. I dont have a CEL but notice a bit of rough idle at stoplights sometimes.

Ok Just picked up the CTT today , It was ready since yesterday but had no time to go get it. Dealer Changed 8 Coils with part Number : 948-602-104-08

Their Report was : Technician noted one (1) coil cracked and base out of box.

The total Cost was $0.00

Feels good and I repeat I had no Check Engine Light , Just a slight hesitation on Idle and it was very little but I thought why wait right?

Telling the dealer that you have a rough idle and occasional hesitation at high power should make them look at the coils.

these engines run very hot causing the plastic coils to crack. recommend plugs change at 40k miles, my coils failed at 50k (2 cracked) now that I have 90k miles I changed both plugs and coils at 80k, just routine maintenance thats all.
