Sorry to hear of your ongoing misFORTUNE! The oil in your drivers side that is excessive, is the turbo shot? or just a case of pcv drawing it in issue? Going to be pricy I'm sure, hopefully it all works out good. Would be a great time to replace all those hoses at the back end, and do plugs etc...

Yep! That looks just like my tranny when it was pulled out. My mechanic said it was the torque converter seal. There was an upgrade made to the seal on some of the 06 Cayennes.

My mech was able to drop the tranny without removing the engine.

Good luck. I feel your pain.. Have them replace the coolant tubes and T fitting while the engine is out. The hard part is already done..

The issue has been found:

So the tranny pump/gear is broken. There are alignment tabs/dowels that the torque converter slides onto that were cracked/broken not allowing the torque converter to seal or align properly. Unfortunately it appears that Porsche doesn't sell the part and a rebuilt or new tranny is going to be needed, but we are trying to verify that Porsche doesn’t sell parts separately.</SPAN>

New tranny = $8500 plus install
Porsche reman with warranty = $4800 plus install

Ouch.

Thanks for the update.

Are we absolutely certain that the plastic pipes have NOT leaked and did NOT cause this?

What may have caused this?

Do I understand that you have an option ($4800) to fix this AND purchase a warranty?

I don't understand.

We first thought it was a torque converter seal $50. But found that it is this pump gear that is not a replacement part, which is insane. Cause is part defect maybe. Not a wear part at all.

Coolant pipe leak would not cause this. Mine were not leaking, but are being replaced while we have everything apart.

I can either buy a new tranny or a Porsche reman one - both have warranties on them, but cost a bit different.

Porsche gives Two Years warranty on their parts. What do they give on your two options?

This is a part that should never break - hence the no available replacement, so you should be fine.

I did not ask what the warranty was on the new tranny.

This is around the time you get a Porsche 'Rep' out there. Its probably a $20 part causing $8k in costs ?
Yeah, I don't think so...

Not a bad idea to call Porsche 1(800) PORSCHE and tell them what occured. Sometimes, Porsche wants to take care of its customers and keep things in house.

I'd offer to let Porsche have the entire transmission. They may want to study it. Or Aisin the transmission maker may want it as well.

Maybe either will give you a deal: swap your tranny complete for thier new tranny. Maybe for less money than what you're facing now.

It's worth a shot; actually, two shots. Start with PNA suggestion they call Germany, then call Japan.

That is outrageous prices! The only time I have ever seen an issue with a pump failure (gear related) has been on extremely cold starts and obviously damage occuring to this region from the inability of the oil to flow, did you ever experience any super cold starts recently? I would be looking for some type of help from Porsche with that issue, can't believe you can't get any parts for these things????? Hope things work out for you.

IF you have the patience and dont mind waiting....machineshop is the answer..but try the transmission "specialist" first...take the part to them or better yet take the whole trans..and they might figure something out....(posibilities that that same part is being used in other transmission with diff. part number........my .02cents ......cheers!
