I need advice before I buy this turbo S

I am about to pull the trigger on a Cayenne. Its listed as a 2005 Cayenne turbo S as far as I can tell they didnt make the turbo S until 2006. Its also listed much lower than book value and that kinda got me skeptical. I have been approved for a loan and can pic this thing up tomorrow but let me know what you think. I have spoke with the dealer a few times.

I guess another question is should I buy this thing?

The title could be wrong for that specific site? I mean the picture of the back shows Cayenne Turbo and in the description it says "2005 PORSCHE CAYENNE TURBO,". The link below should help a bit also, and if the dealer is telling you it is a Turbo S, do not believe it. http://www.capitolautosales.net/newa...-FL-32233.aspx
Anyway, if you want a turbo S, I would search some more. If you are good with a turbo, I am not totally sure what a good price is, and you should probably see what has been or has not been done to it. If it is listed under book value, then I would make sure to get a Carfax report or something like that (especially if it is not CPO'd). Also, I am almost sure some people will probably say to try and find a earlier model year Cayenne that is CPO'd due to some of the parts I have heard of that needed/will need fixing or replaced. Things to ask about and to look out for are the cardan shaft, coils, spark plugs (I think), coolant tubes, and that is all I can think of. I have heard if one wants to own an earlier model, be prepared to pay a good bit for maintanence and repairs. If someone would like to chime in, it would be appreciated, as I am not a expert and the only other Cayenne my family owned was a 2006 TTS, but no problems because it was too rough of a ride for my Father, so he sold it pretty early. I am only going off what I have heard and seen.

I edited my post a bit, but I think you might want a Carfax report as stated in the edited post. If it is not CPO'd, you might want to find a CPO'd one for any repairs/maintenance. You might find something helpful from this thread/forums/any posts. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...ying-tips.html That person got his 05 with only 40k miles at 35.5k, so the price could be reasonable I guess.

CTT-S were released 2006.. there are a lot of Turbo that were "modified" to look like Turbo-S - note the difference in performance (bigger intercoolers, bigger breaks, ECU tuned - i think it's the same as Porsche offers in their tequipment - porsche turbo powerkit).

not sure if you can spot right away the difference in the brakes (i can't tell)..

your best bet is to check the VIN.. i think someone posted here a link to a website that breaks down the VIN numbers that shows you all the options on that particular cayenne..

for a 05 Turbo, that price is still low.. be sure to get service history when possible.. cardan shaft, coils, coolant pipes.. pre-purchase inspection is money well spent so you have an idea on the condition of the car.. then you decide if you want to go for it..

test drive as many cayennes as you can so you can compare and get answers to your questions..

hope this helps..

looking at the pics, this is NOT a CTT-S..

the sliding cover with printed PORSCHE in the front = if it's a turbo s, it should be Turbo S
door sills should have Turbo S, should have sports tail pipes..

What a lot of folks don't realize is that there are VERY few Cayennes near you. I went to cars.com and search near jacksonville (32065) and found 4 Cayennes in 30 miles! 4 !!! I went out to 200 miles and found 44 of which there was only 2 turbos between $30 - $35K. MAN YOU HAVE SLIM PICKINGS DOWN THERE!!

In NJ there are 109+ within 30 miles of me. Checked ebay and the closest out there to your deal is this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-PORSCHE-CAYENNE-TURBO-BOSE-XENONS-1-OWNER-HTD-STS-/370481614621?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item56426ccf1d

So - the price is right. The only hazard is you DEF want to check the vehicle history and see if the coolant pipes are still original. @ 65K miles you will want to change them asap ($1500 - $2K). You can probably negotiate this a bit.

If the vin is clean, go for it! Just promise us all that you will PAINT THOSE CROME RIMS!!!!!!!!!

OH and autocheck is much better then carfax if you want to check a bunch of vehicles and not go for your lungs.

Good advice but I think your #1 should be go on a message board and pick some brains and get advice from guys who know the truck.
This is the beginning, I will do just that as far as the vin number goes.

It's not a CTTS - i have one. Here are some easy ways to tell.

1. The break rotors will be hats, not solid one piece rotors. That aside you can tell by the size of the caliper.
2. The door sills and the little flap down for heater/ac controls statest Turbo S
3. The rear panel on the outside has a Turbo S logo.
4. the intercoolers are bigger

This car is not a CTTS. Good luck in your search.

Good looking out for deals. I know there isnt much down here and yes I do not like chrome wheels. I was looking for a black or white one. I guess I might have to fly to find one I want.

The vin is WP1AC29P75LA91781 as per your link.

Enter it in the decoder below and you will find it is not a Turbo S.

Arghhhhh I hate used car dealers. First of all the guy tells me its a turbo S and its worth $38,000 I call him out on it and say I still want the car even though your trying to tell me its worth 38k and I know its not. He says oh I made a mistake its the S package option (what is this a BMW?) but its still retails at $34,000. I said ya ok sure . Then he says I have to sell the truck for $32,000 when he was asking $29,888 online. I asked him why and he said cause $29,888 is a cash price. He also told me my credit score was 65 points lower than it really was when I pulled it up telling me its hard for me to get approved. WHY ME?? Oh well time to keep looking.
I can imagine the rate he was going to sell me. I wasn't concerned with the rate because I have a 2005 STI for sale as we speak and as soon as it sells I was going to pay off the Porche.

DJ - sounds like you are trying to finance through the dealer to which you can expect this crap to happen. GO TO A BANK - see if you can get approved for $30 - 32K at a decent rate. If so, you then walk in and get the cash price as you will be handing them a bank check. I have done this twice before and devastates the sellers bag of tricks.

That isn't a Turbo S that has been stated...

Price-wise that is roughly what i paid for my '05 Turbo with similar miles but a few more options. Mine also came with a CPO that lasted a good 6 months and saved me a TON.

I did have to look outside of my area and bought one that was 600 miles away. Quick plane flight and drive and she was home with me!
