I listed again and it's exactly what you said dave-t, and only on that side, so probably a blow speaker. How does that happen on a new car? ... or maybe I don't want to know

My speakers jar on XM which is not the best quality but with good quality CD there is absolutely no vibration. But Dave has a very good point. Wow blown speaker in a brand new car. Have it checked and keep us posted.

If a system is new and you have a blown speaker most likely it is not your fault and a speaker defect. Ask the dealer when you bring the truck in if the speakers are broken in at the factory or do you the customer have to break in the speakers yourself. Speaker breakin is important for long term liability just like our car/truck engines. If the speakers are not broken in and you crank it a speaker can be easily blown. I remember when my system was brand new and I had to break in the speakers the tweeters made my ears bleed because they were so high pitched. When speakers break in they soften and are easier on the ears. After 30 hours of play my system was recalibtated and it sound awsome. proper breakin is essential for good strong sound.

hope this helped,

dave-t

Dave, we would love to get a brief tutorial from u on how to break in a speaker. You get rep points for educating us enough already ... most of us I am sure all clueless on speaker break in.

For DVD there is still a HUGE diff in types of DVD.

I have played most formats in my cayenne and there is a big diff in the formats.

If we talking DVD such as a concert with video ther are several options for audio. Most DVD have a few options so you have to select the option when you put in the DVD each time.

PCM is the basic format sounds like a CD
Digital 2.0 little better but not much then a CD
Digital 5.1 geting better really hear the center channel now
DTS 4.0 There is where it starts to get good with the bass and over all sound
DTS 5.1 Here is the best sound you can get from the burmester.

Not all DVD are in DTS 5.1. So if you are buying a new DVD look to see if it has DTS 5.1 Format.

I can tell you first hand DTS 5.1 and PCM is like Bose to Burmester. Yes it is that huge of a diff in sound.

So if you paid the $4K for Burmester put in a dvd and wonder why it does not sound that great make sure you get a 5.1 DTS and select that under DVD format each time you put it into the DVD slot. 99% of the time it defaults to the PCM or digtal 2.0 and you would never know how great the burmester really is.

Rep points for djenders. Thank you for educating us. To the OP, good to know that the dealer is replacing the speaker for you.

djenders is partially correct about 5.1 sounding better, however PCM is bitstream which it is the entire signal and not compressed. Dolby and DTS are both compressed formats. PCM is actually the best but again you have to compare apples to apples amd not apples to oranges. If your DVD has PCM 5.1 is is going to blow away Dolby 5.1 or DTS 5.1. Also if you compare Dolby5.1 or DTS 5.1 to 2 channel PCM the 5.1 will sound better because you get the sourround sound. Check in your head unit to see what the DSP options are. You may be able to take a PCM signal and turn it into Mutichannel signal which will give a simulated sourround sound. If you can that it will most likely sound better than Dolby 5.1 or DTS 5.1.

Sorry if I confused anyone further

+1 break in is key to get the speaker fiber/rubber loose. It takes a while if you are only diving to work and back. Its a great excuse for a road trip!
