My car is coming in next week! I ordered it back in Feb.

I'm wondering what the dealer needs to do to get the car ready after the car comes in from port?

My sales rep told me that the car would be ready on Tuesday, but not before that. It seemed kind of coincidental that my car is going to be ready AFTER the long weekend.. I'm thinking they want to keep my car to let people looking to buy to test drive it.

What do you all think? Paranoid?

 

They need to do a pre delivery inspection..
peel all the protective film off the car..put it up in the air and look it over front to back.
make sure everything is tight and no leaks.check all fluids

any no they won't put it on the lot for people to drive it.Unless of course your deal is not finalized...if you have a deposit down your safe..most new cars seem to have around 15 miles.
what dealer in so cal?

you could ask to at least take a look at it when it gets there..they should have no problem with you doing that.say you want to take pictures and smell the new leather to get you through
the 3 day weekend.

 

When I was looking back in the fall I was refused a test drive on several occasions in vehicles which had already been sold. I doubt anyone will test drive it except for the service department. When I took delivery, my dealer told me their prep includes: removing all protective packaging, waxing the car, checking all fluids, and the head mechanic taking it for a test drive to insure everything is running smoothly. 12 miles on the odometer.

 

Tonka is spot on, they will do a pre-delivery inspection to make sure everything is good.

My dealer told me they can come in a little "rough" and they will have the car detailed before delivery.

 

Do you know how long it takes them usually to do all of that?

Thanks for all the responses. It's the fact that dealers offer to test drive a sold car that "makes me worried."

I'm honestly not that "worried".. I just don't like thinking someone is gonna drive my car. It's one reason I never valet unless I have absolutely no other option. I guess it's a pet peeve of mine

 

The pre-delivery inspection can be done in a day. My dealer claimed to have received my car on late Wed afternoon and it was out on a delivery truck by Thursday evening. I did have 37 miles on mine, however, so not sure if it was test driven by prospective buyers.
