is PCCB very important for CTT

Hi guys:

after reading through the posts and realize how many of you are ordering pepper with PCCB now i kind of regret not getting it.

what does everyone that has it think of it?

my order is locked now but if i try hard maybe my sales rep can help me add it still. besides the obvious braking ability, little brake dust, and no more replacing break pads, what do you think of it in terms of PCCB for the new CTT?

does it make giant noise when breaking like some of the Brembo ?

thanks much!
mike

I have them and love them because I use my pepper to tow a trailer.

No noise in cold or hot temps. First hard stop is a bit soft to warm them up but after they are superior.
Stopping is probably comparable to the standard breaks in distance but pedal feel, no break dust, the awesome huge yellow caliper and pads, and the other items you already mentioned made ordering them WITH it a YES for me.
Don't regret not getting them, but in the end if you can't change your locked build
You'll survive, just not as good as I am

There are several threads on the ceramic brakes around. Here are a few I had bookmarked. You can do a search here and at rennlist to get them all, but keep in mind some of the negative comments are from years ago when the ceramic brakes were an older generation and some of the negative comments are from owners interested in brakes for track use.

Rde430-- thanks!

Jace--- aww i should of asked you this when i was placing the order. just emailed my rep to add it. hopefully he can pull some strings and make it happen. only 15 days away from actual build date! fingers crossed!!!

hrd-- thanks for the info! i read thru a whole bunch of websites tonight and yes there are negative comments but like you said, most due to Gen I version of PCCB.

so far 3-0 For PCCB!

Hi guys:
are these 2 statements true for pccb? I live in midwest and we do get snow about 6 month out of the year...

-------------------------

Yes they are EXTREMELY FFRAGILE!!!! Even the oils from your skin can cause damage to the rotors!!! So GREAT idea for a street/track car that will not see snow or rain... Downside is that the Brake pads and rotors are VERY hard so "squeeling brake noises" will ALWAYS be present....and that is the nature of the BEAST!!!!

You need to exercise extreme caution when changing a wheel with PCCB's.
If you hit the disc, it can fracture, since it is not designed to accept ANY side load like that.
It is generally recommended to use TWO wheel hanging bolts when installing wheels on PCCB vehicles.

I know the second is for sure true..

but on the bright side..if anything happens and you don't want to spend $$$$$ to replace them you can just put in steel rotors

ceramic is a odd material one small chip off a spark plug can actually shatter a window.

What Jace said!!!!!

We've had 3 Gen II PCCB cars/suvs and have yet to have a squealing brake problem. On the other hand, our 2011 Jet Black Cayenne Turbo has steel brakes and squeals like crazy.

I decided against the ceramics on my turbo build. I heard horror stories about the brake dust on standard brakes, but honestly I think its actually pretty light in comparison to what I see on my other cars (Audis)
Braking ability seems more than adequate with the standard turbo brakes, and since I really dont intend to track the Cayenne, figured I'd save the $.
For me, I dont regret not getting them.
