'06 CS - running fiber from glovebox to CD changer location
'06 CS - running fiber from glovebox to CD changer location
Tomorrow I'm tackling installing a Dension Gateway-500, with BlueToof and the long extension fiber to retain my CD changer.
Only part I see being a challenge is running the fiber cable from under the glovebox to the rear right side compartment where the CD changer lives.
Anyone done this sort of run and have any hints?
Do the rugs pull out easily along the door sills?
Running the fiber from under the rear rug up into the compartment - any hints?
I did spend some quality time with the stuff AutoToys.com sent - the fiber included with the GW-500 gave enough bits to make a Y type fiber loop, so the front connection for the Gateway will be plug and play. Tricky bit is going to be running the wires to the console compartment, and the fiber to the rear compartment.
Any hints would be greatly appreciated. I'll try and document things as I go at it..

Buhler? Anyone awake? Anyone done this little chore?
Overhead or under the carpet? What's the best path?
BTW - I got the basic install done today.. everything except making the changer functional is done. Phone works fairly well. Playing stuff off a USB memory stick is trivial. I don't own an iPod so can't speak to how well that works.
Few little bugs - not sure if it's phone related or the interface..
Have an LG7###(something) - about 3-4 years old. I have to tell it to connect to the Dension 1500 every time I start the truck. The 1500 also doesn't want to import the phonebook - can't find any option to do that. If I go to manually add an entry to the phone book, it won't let me, tells me the phonebook is full. If I dial a number and then tell it to save the number - it does that just fine. Duh.
Will continue experimenting with it. Right now very sore - took about 12 hours to get to this point (nothing is easy with the Cayenne.. there is NO space behind the glovebox at all, or under it or over it.)

Hang in there Don. I would be happy to just get an aux. in on mine. At least you got most of it done before the snow came today.
Any simple way to get an aux. in? All I really want is Pandora or some XM with a quality connection.

Of course that will mean you'll be searching for how to run those cables just like I'm searching for how to run the fiber extension for the CD changer. Stapling them into the carpet just seems rather tacky..
In that case I'd still need to extend the USB/iPod/Aux-Port cables up to the console area at least - meaning I'm still running cables (instead of fibers) - and have no idea how the best route is to run them.
