A/C interior leaked

Anyone experience this on their 2005 CTT A/C water leaked? This happens when I turn on my A/C for a while and water started to dripped from the under part of the interior panel. Both driver and passenger side. Even my carpet behind the driver side very dampy as well. I placed my fingers underneath the passenger side interior panel where it dripped from and the foam inside the plastic cover is all wet. Happens only when A/C is on. Is it consindation because of the coldness build up on the hoses/metal tubes? I worried it might short circuit something. Any suggestion will help. Thank you.

I'd suggest you clear out the AC drain. It's plugged up.

You can find it by removing the passenger side under-dash panel (one T-10 screw right in the center, then disconnect the few wires going to the panel). You'll find the drain just about dead center (from memory) going from a large plastic box (the HVAC container) to the firewall.

The drain is a black rubber. Try squeezing it - if it feels crunchy it's full of leaves and twirlygigs. You can probably remove the end at the box fairly easily, and that should provide you access to clean it out. Make sure the both ends are in place before putting things back together.

You might also consider changing your HVAC filter. If the hose is plugged up, so is your filter, which limits the airflow through the coils - causing more water precipitation. You can get to it by removing the panel for your HVAC filter. That requires a 5mm socket or driver to remove some screws holding the panel in place (it's a long retangular piece screwed to the bottom of the HVAC box near the AC drain.) The filter slides out. Be prepared for an ugly dirty filter. A vacuum cleaner is a handy thing to have when doing this project.

Good luck!

Thank you. I will look into it and keep you posted. I have an extension warranty. Do you think the dealer will do this for me through my warranty covers?

Very unlikely. It's considered maintenance - not a "repair".

Thanks Don for you're time and kind suggestions. I took the P!g to my Porsche independent mechanic and he said the same thing. With the lack of time I just let him fix the problem for $80.00.

No problem. If he replaced the HVAC filter while he was in there - $80 is a bargain. Porsche would have gotten $300..
