Installed new battery in 40 min !

After reading up on the procedure from the manual, I did my 08 Cayenne S preemptive battery swap. At 5yrs and 3 months I felt it was due especially with the summer heat. I treat batteries as maintenance service items and 5 yrs is usually my limit. (especially in a Cayenne where it is not just a Sears trip for a battery) I got the Autozone Duralast H8 ($135) and picked up a 10mm triple square bit from amazon. The hardest part was lifting the sucker out. Once the battery was in, just a local drive to reset PSM and all is good. Definitely a DIY with the triple square bit and the owners manual.

Stay cool

I changed mine in the 2005 a few years ago, and now my 2008 Cayenne S is approaching the 5 year mark. But since the battery does not suffer the elements as much as being in the engine compartment, I wonder if more than 5 years is OK. The battery looked brand new after 5 years, and the guy at the auto parts store looked at me like I were crazy for getting rid of the battery before it was really dead and in that condition.

Some people are getting more than 7 years with their Cayenne batteries. Not sure.

Same here..but I have had batteries die with NO notice and it isn't just a casual drop in battery like my Boxster. My BMW worked fine one moment, went into a store and came back out and no go (only 3 yrs old). BMW replace it for free but ruined my day waiting for BMW road service to come and swap it out. (that battery is in trunk)
