Hesitation of car when shifting - particularly from 2nd to 3rd

I love my Cayenne, but this hesitation is driving me crazy. This is not the hesitation that some describe from a dead stop. I do have a bit of that but it is tolerable. I describe the annoying hesitation as something that occurs especially on light throttle input when the car is shifting lazily through the gears. Lazy would be fine except it is FAR too lazy in the way things are executed. Perhaps I should just take a GoPro video of what I'm talking about. I notice it most on a 2nd gear start. As the revs pass 2,000, I can feel the car almost "clam up" and prepare to shift and then it still takes some time for the shift to be completed. More moderate acceleration typically does not exhibit the problem.

Any idea what I'm talking about and how it can be solved?

Sprintbooster. It increases the voltage to the TPS in a progressive/step fashion that effectively mimics more moderate/aggressive pedal input. I got it for the same purpose - to increase the feel of "snappiness". By doing so, the tranny ECU also executes faster shifts since it recognizes the more aggressive revs/throttle input. An additional benefit is that it keeps the turbos spooling longer in on/off/on throttle applications.

To be clear, it does not add HP/TQ.

How does it shift when you disable PSM? Does it behave better?

I do not think the Sprint Booster will cure this entirely. I did go ahead and order one to give it a try.

Dennis, it behaves differently with PSM off by keeping the revs higher keeping the car in a lower gear but it still exhibits the same problem.

My problem sounds a lot like the problem described here: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...lectrical.html

I sent a PM asking the OP about details but no response yet. Maybe it is just low on fluid and having trouble mechanically executing the shift?

Looks like I misread the original post as a preference to have the enhanced-shifting patterns similar to when PSM is switched off.

In the event that you are having legitimate transmissions issues, then you will most likely have a code.

To pull the codes, you will need more than a simple OBDII reader. You can either invest in a Durametric and check the codes yourself or take it to the dealer or P-car indy to read the codes.

Unfortunately, if you do have low transmission fluid it might not show up as a code. The procedure to check/fill the ATF fluid is fairly complicated. If you do not want to take it into a tech, you can follow the PDFs on this thread at your risk:

Thanks for the link. I will forward to my tech to do next time I am out of town. I do have a durametric and don't remember any codes last I had it plugged in but I also wasn't specifically looking for tranny-related codes.

nadim is infamous around these parts
had the same problem, solved it yesterday.
first check on a scanner, it should be either ignition coil or it will read a p0441 code.(look for ignition related codes)
if it does, it means there is a leak in your vacuum system. first check if your fuel cap is ok, if it is, u will probably need to change the purge valve. its found on the left side of your engine. the part code is 948 110 202 01 its an easy DIY.i changed the coils, the valve and the fuel cap. the code is gone, the car is acting normal now, i cant believe i got of this annoying hesitation. let me know.below is a drawing. the valve is on red and it is attached to a thin tube.
