Check Engine Light Code Catalyst Efficiency HELP!!!
Folks,
Check engine light came on this morning.. I took my tester and hooked up to the vehicle and it was reading "Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2). This is a 08 Cayenne Turbo. I tried to erase the code, but couldn't. I'm using a Scantool CAN OBD2 model 3130, but it appears that I need a Durametric Enthusiast Package to clear the code. My couple are questions are:
1. Is this the 02 sensor that is going bad?
2. Exactly where is this sensor and what's entailed in replacing?
3. Do I need the Durametric to clear the check engine light or will it go out when I replace sensor?
Thanks for all the help everyone.

It could be the rear 02 sensor going bad or your cats could be gummed up - most likely, the former. This is assuming you have the stock cats in place...
You have two sensors that could throw this code. One on each bank (engine side) before the secondary cats and after the primary cats on the primary downpipes. The are tucked up under the chassis next to the transmission bell housing. Replacing them is easy enough, just source a special tool called a "oxygen sensor" wrench (7/8" or 22mm) and apply a heaping amount of torque to loosening. I used a right angle oxygen sensor wrench like
with good results:
Then follow the wiring up to the top side of the engine bank to the factory disconnect.
You should be able to clear the code with any CAN OBDII reader that is enabled to clear codes since it is emissions related. It is best practice to clear the code immediately after performing the repair and then seeing if it comes back. You also should try to determine which bank threw the error so you do not have to replace both rear oxygen sensors at the same time. Although, it is probably a good call if one is bad, to do the other as well.

It was giving me bank 2 on the error. Where is this one exactly located. You also mentioned the cats may be gummed up. When you say cats, are your refering to the catalyst converter? Thanks for the information....

Yes, "cats" is short for catalytic converter. This is a common term.
