PTM Transfer Gear Servo Motor Update

Has anyone installed PTM Transfer Gear Servo Motor Update? I recently had the all wheel drive light come on and have it checked and was told that I needed to replace the control and servo motor. Anyone have any idea on DIY or what an indy shops typically charge for this?

Thanks.

I know there is an update, but have not heard of a related-DIY posted on this board. It looks like the update kit costs $745 on Suncoast right now. Also a reviewer stated that the install is less than an hour, so it should be easy. It is described as:

"PTM Transfer Gear Servo Motor Update
Display in instrument cluster: "All-wheel drive system defective" - For fault code 2033, 2039, 2041, or 2042 in transfer gear control unit.

When the transfer unit is diagnosed as being defective, this parts kit updates to the latest version as recommended by Porsche in a technical service manual.

In effected vehicles, the servo motor overheats while in "Low Range" driving program after driving long distances due to a fault in the transfer gear control unit. To complete this update, a new control unit for the center differential lock and new servo motor are required.

This upgrade is for 2003 to 2009 Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne GTS, Cayenne Turbo, and Cayenne Turbo S models."

Thanks. I ordered the kit from them yesterday. In speaking with my Indy shop, they are wanting $280 to install. The dealership wanted $1800 parts and install. Seems pretty crazy considering the module appears to still be working and the sensor is only coming periodically.

please share update... does your indy shop has a durametric or PIWIS tester to reset the fault code? or do you need to bring it to the dealership to reset fault? Thanks!

They have all the porsche computer systems in their shop. Likely why they arent so cheap but they never seem to not impress. Repairs are scheduled for the end of the week. I will keep everyone posted.

Hi!

Have the same problem with my '05 V6 and I'm about to order from Suncoast Parts.
How did everything go with your car and the update? Does anyone know where the control unit is located?

Thanks

Christian
