Newbie Cayenne Question re:Sound

Hi All,
Just got a 2006 Cayenne S. So being new to Porsche, I'd like to know something about the sound it makes. In the morning when I go to work. When I start the Cayenne, thats fine, when I then start off on my way it has a higher revving whirring sound for a while, like when you open a sleeping bag
. I'm wondering if this is normal and is this high gear like sound like the choke because the engine is still cold?
Any comments would be appreciated.

It's likely normal. When the engine is cold it starts out in 1st gear to help warm the engine faster. Once warmed up, the truck always starts in 2nd gear.
