Can't decide if 957 Cayenne Turbo is worth the extra pennies over 957 Cayenne V6 3.6
Hi all. I'm just about to pull the trigger on purchasing a 957 Cayenne. I have 2 choices. First option is a 2007 957 Cayenne V6 3.6 with 80k km (50k miles), loaded with every possible option including Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) and Air Suspension with Height Adjustment (PASM). The second one is a 2008 957 Cayenne Turbo with again 80k km with the standard Turbo package options.
Turbo’s price is 1.5 times the price of the V6 3.6. Is the performance difference worth the extra pennies? I will be driving the car 80% of the time in the city. How is the fuel consumption of Turbo and V6 in city and highway use (not what Porsche advertises but real data from actual owners)? What is the difference between the Turbo and the V6 3.6 besides the twin turbo engine, bigger brakes? How much are the turbo brakes larger than the V6 3.6 brakes?
I’m thinking of doing a second cat bypass and straight pipe exhaust for whichever I decide to buy. I’m sure cat bypass and straight pipe exhaust will add considerable HP to the Turbo, how about the V6? Does it add some HP?
Also the V6 has 21 inch wheels with 295/35 ZR 21 tires which makes the ride very harsh. Would it be ok to replace the tires with 293/40 ZR 21 tires? Would they rub anywhere or cause any problems?
I can’t decide if the Turbo is worth the extra pennies. Thank you very much for all recommendations and information.

Since your looking at doing the cat bypass / straight pipe mods, you already are looking for more power.
The difference between the V6 and V8 engine is the V6 was designed and built by VW.
The V8 engine is Porsche designed and built.
You are looking at buying a Porsche, drive both and you will make the correct choice.

The Turbo gets about 13-14 city and about 18-19 highway. If you are worried about gas mileage turbo might not be a good choice, but if you rate via Smiles per Gallon the turbo is off the charts.
I think you are over analyzing or are feeling guilty for wanting the turbo.
Just get the turbo and don't look back.

The V6 is listed as 18.5 L/100Km City, 9.8 L/100Km Highway and 12.9 L/100Km as combined. The Turbo is listed as 22.4 L/100Km City, 10.5 L/100Km Highway and 14.9 L/100Km as combined. Do these numbers look correct?

+1 Get the turbo...you will have better resale value as well as when the day comes to sale it you will have more people lined but for your TTv8 vs the v6.
I seriously can not believe this is being asked... especially from a screen name TT VIPER. You need to drive both and figure out for yourself if twice as much HP is worth the additional premium. But seriously? Well, on the other hand... maybe you should get a V6 if you're really asking.
I didn't think that air suspension & PDCC were even available on the base cayenne V6.
Either way it is like comparing 2 totally different cars...apples & oranges!!
Did you consider a Dodge Neon when you bought the Viper too?
I think someone is looking for attention.....

I already have a very fast car (1500 Rwhp). The reason I am comparing the Turbo and the V6 is this will be my daily driver and the gas mileage becomes important especially in a country where gas is 1.5 EU per liter (the world’s most expensive gas).
Also the V6 is as fast as the Turbo sitting in the bumper to bumper rush hour traffic.
Perhaps I’m trying to justify spending the extra pennies to buy the Turbo just for city driving.

If I were YOU, I would get the V6, it just seems like the better fit.
