Bumper Trim

Not sure if its been covered, but how do I remove the stainless steel bumper trim? I dont like the shiny metal look and want it painted black

What stainless bumper trim? I haven't had any on either my first or current Cayennes. Is it part of your package? Either way I would guess there are holes in the bumper where the trim piece is supported.

I assume he means the loading scratch pad on the upper part of rear bumper.

I don't know if it's screwed, riveted, or just snapped on. Either way, depending on the method of painting, it may be easier to just slide note cards under it all the way around then mask off the other areas with 2ml plastic and spray it while still in place.

I meant the scratch pad on the top of the bumper. Suncoast calls it "Rear Bumper Stainless Trim". Sliding note cards around the sides may be the easier way to go, thanks!

If I was going to make it black I would remove it and have it anodized. Painting a sill protector that is made to protect the bumper paint will likely only get scraped up and probably look worse.

Only thing in my trunk is a golf bag so I don't think it'll get scratched up, but sh** happens so maybe it should be wrapped.

I did black vinyl wrap on mine and it seems to hold up just fine after a few years

That piece is basically clipped into the bumper if you take you thumbs and press down and push foward you should see how it unclips from the bumper. The trim has the clips built into it if that makes sense, meaning its not separate clips. And I agree with Denversteve...if your attempting to paint it although you say you wont scratch it one day you will and its going to be a pain to retouch it. But anodizing wont work the part is plastic so anodizing will ruin it...I would say what sinister05CTT suggested vynal wrap you dont have to remove it and if it ever scratches just put a new peice on

Interesting. The only ones I've seen are stainless steel. Our bumper covers don't have any slots or holes in them so, again, the after-market one's I've seen are held on the bumper cover by two-sided 3M tape. The one inside the rear gate, not on the bumper, may be different but mine is stainless also.

hmm I guess they are different I have an 09 CTTS and recently had that piece warrantied and saw them replace it...it has slots in my bumper for that piece to clip into. The one on the bumper is part stainless but noticed some plastic in there so thats why I would reccomend coating it
