NEED HELP-TOWING EXPERTS-Travel Trailer
I've had several 1 ton and HD3/4 ton trucks. I've towed the exact same trailer with the exact same load with both the trucks and my CTT. The CTT is a better two rig!!
If you want to quote "physics" then let's look at them
The Cayenne was designed to handle like a sports car! Low center of gravity with much of the drivetrain mounted barely above the wheel center line! A suspension designed to be as stable as possible and have traction at the limits!
These all sound like good things when towing! Length doesn't create stability, good suspension and low center of gravity does! Most pickups have the drivetrain mounted far above the axles and a suspension from the wooden wagon days!
Let's tall about sway. The most stable towing platform is to mount the hitch point directly over the rear axle. Doing this totally eliminates the "lever arm" upon which sway is amplified. This is the distance from the rear axle to the hitch location. On most large pickups this length is 3-4 feet!! On the CTT its about 1.5-2 feet. So sway has less effect on a CTT than on a pickup running a normal rear mounted hitch.
Brakes! The Cayenne was designed to stop in the same distance as a 911 of the same era. Big brakes, lots of force, lots of cooling. Trailer brakes help, but I can tell your from hauling a 7700lb trailer behind my Dodge 2500 and the CTT with the same trailer brake controller installed on each. The Cayenne stops MUCH MUCH BETTER!!
I'd rather tow with my CTT any day for safety and stability over my HD trucks!
Here is a fun video. Watch the CTT when the trailer near leaves the ground and rolls over. It's almost totally unaffected.

That advice is spot on. Also, the trailer company is the expert on what vehicle(s) would work best for that length trailer. They set up vehicles daily and know what is safe. That trailer is very long for your wheel base. Your vehicle is already pulling around over 2.5 tons. I would be looking at a 3500 range truck for that trailer.
I think a telling sign is that the trailer company won't set up the Cayenne for that trailer. That's their job, and income base. If they won't, it's a big clue. A reputable trailer company would just say"no. You can't tow this with that."

Facts and physics. The advice GR8 gave you is from actual experience combined with the fact that no one will set that vehicle up for that trailer. A Cayenne may have the torque to pull a house but that does not equate with the ability to safely (for the occupants and vehicle) tow a 32' trailer. That's what heavy-duty trucks are designed for. Simply the right tool for the job.

Wow! That Airstream video is very impressive!
I'm going to tow with my 04 CTT a MB 450SL in a couple of months. I'm planning to rent a U-Haul two axle car trailer and purchase a brake controller.
Cole - in the video, the Airstream tow vehicle (CTT) looks like it is using a weight distribution hitch. Is this necessary/compatible with the stock CTT air suspension struts?
On some forums, people say not to use a weight distribution hitch with the CTT's air suspension - any thoughts on this?

I tow quite a bit with my CTT. Just towed a 70 kilowatt generator for a music festival. It weighed over 7000 lbs and I easily kept 75 mph up hills. These things are amazing. When I went to pick up the generator I was told that I couldn't take the thing as my "car" wasn't near big enough. Had to show them the towing limit. It was really funny when the guys at Cat Rental saw the CTT self leveling with no one in the car. When I returned the gen set one of the guys in the yard said he had a look online and was amazed at what he saw on the CTT and towing. LOL

I honestly don't know much about weight distributing hitches. Never used one.
Just wanted to let you know I saw the comment, just don't have an answer so I'm keeping my mouth shut on this one.
