Smoke, hesitation and boost loss help needed ASAP

Trying to help a friend out. 2005 cayenne turbo, it is smoking bad on occasional start ups , puffs pretty good size of oil residue out at idle, hesitates a bit on accel and sometimes doesn't make full boost at wot. My 05 blew smoke but this is worse. I'm thinking blown turbos. I did a search and I know porsche claims 30 hours labor, etc but has anyone done this project themselves or through a speed shop that didn't charge them the world? Where can you find replacement turbos even used or new for the best price and any upgraded turbos that are direct bolt ons to the stock manifolds? Let me know. Thanks
