Hi,

Today I received a Low Coolant Level warning message display on my dashboard.

Is this a normal occurrence that just needs to be topped off or is it a signal of something else?

2009 Porsche Cayenne V6, 84000 KM

It's certainly not normal. You have a leak somewhere. Whether it's worth it to fix is another question altogether. I have or had some sort of slow leak on my tts when I bought it, but it hasn't dropped since. Maybe a tiny bit, but almost unnoticeable in a few months. I'm letting it go for now.

 

Of course it's normal. All vehicles, eventually, need fluids topped off. Unless you are aware of a leak, or are going through coolant at a high rate, top it off and move on.

 

*sigh of relief* Thank you for your reply. I was worried because I read about Cayenne's being notorious for their coolant leaks. I will top it off and monitor the situation.

 

Check your expansion tank. I had to replace mine earlier this year due to the expansion tank spliting where the 2 sides were fused together. Not sure if it the same setup in the 957 but mine is a 955. This might get you moving in the right direction.

 

If he has a split coolant tank he will have leak evidence. None mentioned here.

 

Mine showed no evidence of leak unless it was filled and under pressure and it ran out behind the passerger front tire

 

That, sir, is evidence of a leak. Happens every time.
